Another newly discovered Russian hacking target … conservative think tanks that are, to put them in a familiar term … Trump haters.
BOSTON — The Russian military intelligence unit that sought to influence the 2016 election appears to have a new target: conservative American think tanks that have broken with President Trump and are seeking continued sanctions against Moscow, exposing oligarchs or pressing for human rights.
Bored now.
This is what happens when they are not punished harshly enough for their prior attacks on our nation by the current administration. They feel emboldened and empowered to continue attacking us without fear of repercussion.
Don’t worry be happy.
Why should that make me less worried or happy in the slightest?
You aren’t going to stop them hacking any more than the Chinese. The proper response to hacking by these foreign governments is improved cyber security, not escalation until you get to war.
The previous Administrations were not Punishing them Either.

I disagree. Massive global sanctions that cause tremendous economic pain, I believe, would be acceptable punitive measures that would greatly deter this behavior. There is a lot of ground between doing little to nothing, and an all out shooting war.
But I do agree that massive improvement in security is also needed to help prevent such incursions. Something Republicans and the Trump administration have also failed to accomplish or even attempt.
I don’t care about past administrations in the here and now. I care about the here and now. Also, what Russia did in attacking us in 2016 was completely unprecedented. And the fact they are continuing their attacks today is proof positive that the current administration has not done enough to deter this action. This should bother all Americans.

But China has done far more intrusive hacking than Russia and the Past administrations did nothing except slap the hands.

Hacking will always happen, All we can do is try to make things more secure.
If hackers want to get in they will , just like they found some stupid people at the DNC and in Podesta that let them in.
What do you think the US’s response to the world getting together to punish us economically that resulted in crashing our economy and impoverishing our citizens would be? I think there would be a lot of dead people around the world.

I said their attack on us was unprecedented, which is the truth. Read the Senate Intelligence Committee report that lays all of this out regarding the unparalleled escalation by Russia in their attack on us in 2016.
The fact they are continuing to attack us should be very troublesome for all Americans. We should demand more of our government to deter and prevent these attacks on our nation. I’m not sure how anyone could disagree with this reality.

Answer my question, what do you think the US reaction would be to the world getting together to punish us for some reason that resulted in our economic collapse and impoverishing our citizens? Think we’d just roll over? Who are you kidding. If we do it to them and they don’t go to war over it, it will be for one reason only, they don’t think they can win.
Your hypothetical is not a valid comparison at all. The US is not equal to Russia. Also, you answered your own question. Russia cannot win a war by themselves against the world. You know it. I know it. They know it.
Our prior sanctions were already harming them economically, and they didn’t go on a kamikaze attack against the world.
This notion that Russia is the true power that the rest of the world should fear, and therefore be allowed to attack us at will is nonsensical to me. I don’t believe for one second that they should be allowed to continue attacking us without repercussions because they are just bigger and badder than everyone else. You imply we should just roll over and take it. I vehemently disagree with this weak position.
