New COVID cases are surging in highly vaccinated Vermont

That’s what I’ve been doing for decades.

That’s interesting…

But it doesn’t explain our rising death rate. Close to 2K yesterday.

True, but that also depends on did they die from covid or with covid. Not sure how they report it.

I’m pretty sure someone posted an explanation of how they count it and if you die with covid of something else, you aren’t in the daily death counts.

Can’t find it though.

Came across this cheery article though:

  • Their study found that most of these excess deaths occurred in areas affected by racial and social injustices.

I’m going to stop you right there.

why would people with mild or asymptomatic cases be hospitalized? thats dumb

this “breakthrough” case stuff is silly. as the antibodies wear off, everyone who can get covid will eventually get covid. at this point the point of getting vaccinated is not to prevent the disease but to make it more survivable.

testing is not and never was the answer. aside from the fact that if you contracted covid at the airport you won’t test positive for a few days, there are 30% false negatives.

Breakthrough cases have increased but are outpaced by the non-vaccinated.

From the link, data through 9/8 -

About 441,570 people have been fully vaccinated in Vermont. The breakthrough cases represent a small portion, about 0.4%, of the fully vaccinated population.

To date there have been 51 hospitalizations and 18 deaths among the 1,906 cases of vaccine breakthrough.

The vaccine still works really well.

for now

And CDC says you can test positive for 90 days after.

They recommend a symptom based strategy for ending quarantine. I disagree with it.

And so we should stop getting vaccinated?

Like what?

I know this has been said but ATM Vermont is suffering record breaking cases being that is most vaccinated state in the country.

Point one…cases have always been a lousy metric.

Point two…there are frequent false positives.

Point three…less than 300 cases in the entire state is not what I would call a surge.

It is a disappointing that the vaccine had not performed as expected.

It’s performing pretty well. The 7 day average of covid deaths in Vermont is 2.

It’s also leaf peeping season in Vermont. Lots of travel is happening now.

But yet it’s higher then any point up till now.

Also check out Maine

Maine is in top 5 most vaccinated state.

Now granted deaths are slightly down from it’s peak so that’s a good thing.
