Last election, the dems promoted a candidate that nobody wanted. This time they are promoting an agenda that nobody wants. The results will be the same.

If, and I say if, there is a systematic oppression here, then the Federal government should do what any progressive should support…attempt to correct it.

Correction isnt just stopping the oppression. It restitution to the oppressed.

Who qualifies for the restitution? Anyone with a certain percentage of black in them?

Better question is… why do you feel white people would feel punished? We aren’t asking them for reparations we are asking the federal government.

Of which black people would pay zero taxes and white people would be paying all of them. White people would be paying them under your plan.

I find it hilarious that this argument is used for paying reparations but not for building the wall. “We should have built the wall the minute the first immigrant cross our border illegally.”

We also don’t use this argument for many other things that we delay doing.

The difference is the flood continues. Slavery doesn’t.

Actually, it is, because the reparations issue was time sensitive. The idea would be that the people responsible for the suffering would be responsible for making amends to those who suffered. That’s impossible now, no?

Plenty of good questions that I do not know the answers to. That is why many who are in favor of examining the issue believe a study or panel should be formed to fully look into it and try to come up with a sensible solution.

Party doesn’t inherit blame any more than a country does.

The US government is bigger than party. The US government implemented oppressive laws specifically targeted at black people for 150+ years.

Somehow people (mostly white) believe that nothing is owed to people who literally had laws written to disadvantage them.

The CRA is 54 years old. That is it.

Every law ever written disadvantaged me.

100% Federal Tax exemption is my number 1. For as many generations/years as there was slavery.

After that… I’d settle for a 25-50 billion fund for educational and economic development of African Americans. Small business grants without the requirement for credit approval. Just a business plan reviewed and excepted by a panel. Maybe more incentives to black people who want to open businesses in underprivileged areas.
