no one is rewriting history, removing a brass statue doesn’t rewrite history, banning a flag at a private sporting event doesn’t rewrite history.

Sure it does. Yank down a statue (hopefully on top of the dumb arse), over some convoluted outrage over events that took place 160 years ago? Banning a flag so people won’t remember a dark period in America’s history? Hope it will go away?

don’t all American get taught history in school?
or do you only learn history from random statues.

None of these people are offended other than they need something to be offended by.

You are right. It simply pretends that it never occurred.

Who is doing the teaching? What are they teaching? History as taught in schools isn’t neutral.

Only to a losing side. To the winning side, it was the civil war.

Allan

What do you think a civil war is?

In this case. Two belligerent parties.

The union and Fledgling confederacy.

The union prevailed.

And readmitted the rebs back into the union.

Allan

Southerners are not superior.

Our food certainly is.

Ouch, I’m gonna just sit this one out and watch, should be fun.
Extra butter on mine, hold the salt please.

Just a fact.

Here lemme stir the pot a little. I’m not a Southern boy mind you, I was born & raised in Pittsburgh PA. We have a home in the Palm Beaches area of FL and over the years I’ve made lots of friends from all over “the South”. They’re just as proud of where they come from as we are. ‘Nuff of that, enjoy CDB pup!

Seen Charlie in concert about twenty times going all the way back to 1975.

Yep … it was a war between two groups of the States. And it and the aftermath is a part of history, not only for the participants and their descendants, but for all of mankind. It is silly to pretend otherwise.

Neither are northerners.

You mean like the 3 incarnations of the KKK.

That and Jim Crow are things were really don’t want to put front and center as accomplishments of this great nation.

Those were bedsores.

The confederate flag is a symbol of those two things.

Everyone wants to think where they live is the greatest thing since Sliced bread.

But there are pros and cons with each region and state.

Allan

Those things are part of our history too. Why deny any of it?
