You feel Brandon is going to get 70% of the popular vote?

If you think about the number of people that attend a rally compared to the number of people who vote it really is meaningless to try and correlate that with the votes cast on election day.
Trumps base is definitely energized and when he is in town he pulls them in buts its the people who sre going to vote for him regardless.
Personally I think Trump will squeak in a win. And regardless of who wins I just hope the other side concedes and lets us all forget about elections for a bit.

They voted for him too.
You think 74 million attended rallies? That would surprise me.

The point is that prior democratic candidates, even guys like Bill Clinton or Dukakis, realized that you have to speak to those kind of people in a respectful kind of way. Because they vote in arguably the highest turn out. Because they are driven by fear more than anything else. You donât want to make them even more fearful.
Obama was the first politician I ever saw actually basically say âyour point of view doesnât matter any more.â And it galvanized them. And what did Trump promise to them? Everything they ever wanted. Like a populist always does.

Those people vote. You donât have to pander to them. But you do have to respect them and accept them as legitimate. Prior generations of Democrats understood that. Why do you think Bill Clinton was nominated? He had the folksy down south feel that the party thought wouldnât get them those kind of votes, but it might calm them down and make them stay home.
Obama wasnât like that. He honestly freaked those people out. For multiple reasons. Some of it was racial Iâm sure. But not all of it.

So basically what oleâ Barack really thinks of us country bumpkins
Based on what? Certainly not job approval numbers.
when did high energy and excitement and momentum for a candidate on the trail become âmeaningless?â
when did adding 10âs of millions to vote counts become âmeaningless?â
all you guys are doing is trying to downplay the rally energy and turnouts because they are dismally pathetic for your mumbling puppet candidate
we see this. just fyi

Clinton may have pandered to those folksâŚbut his polices screwed them. He bought into the the neoliberal BS. I think Obamaâs comment did not have the impact you think it did. He got elected twice.
The policies the neoliberals pushedâŚincluding Obama, is what hurt them more than those words.
Their jobs were outsourced due to corporate greed, enabled by policy. And pubs did a good job on blaming the âeliteâ the Democrats did pander toâŚfor the cause of their situationâŚeven though pubs were just as guilty implementing those policies.
Ironically, the spending bills Biden got passed, has created jobs to many of those folksâŚand pubs are taking credit, even though they voted against the bills!

Not all country bumpkins, just some country bumpkins. And a bunch of others, that are neither.

How does crowd rally size during a pandemic matters, but the popular voters doesnât matter at all???

Clinton was a liberal during the first two years of his presidency. He signed a big tax increase into law back in 1993.
