Hmmm…where is the part where the NBA and owners are responsible for her packing drugs, accidental or otherwise?)

I hear Beatles lyrics except it’s not USSR anymore.

I hadn’t thought of that!

Maybe this could be played everyday so often she gets sick of it and changes her ways next trip overseas:

Love :two_hearts: those Fab Four, sadly now, Fab Two.

My guess is that, like most workers, NBA players are payed in relation to how much money they bring in. Maybe fans should serve her time.
Oh, that’s right. That has nothing to do with taking drugs where it is known to be illegal.

Maybe if WNBA players brought an NBA quality game to the basketball court they would receive NBA quality pay and endorsements.

I think it was Bill Burr who noted, watch where the eyeballs go, men, enjoy watching teams of men cooperate to obtain lofty goals, women, like to watch women rip each other apart on The Housewives of X.

All the more reason for the NBA to fix the wage gap.

They (the NBA) generates 8 billion dollars annually. Plus, the NBA is owned by billionaires who have plenty of money to address this.

When you want to sit there and wag your finger at me about social injustice, you need to make sure your own backyard is clear of debris first.

Pay Briana Stewart!

Greiner is paid like $200,000 per year on her WNBA contract.

LeBron James makes $500,000 a game.

She plays in Russia, because they were willing to pay her $1 million dollars a year.

Capiche?

No, I get it. Your contention is that the problem here is that low pay lead to Griner’s having to go to Russia. I am sympathetic to that view, BUT the much more proximal cause (and realistic solution) is to not bring drugs into Russia.

It’s not a wage gap. It’s a fan gap, and therefore a revenue gap.

Relatively few care about WNBA, never mind want to pay to watch them play.

WNBA is already subsidized by the NBA, so they are already overpaid for the product they offer.

More power to Russian women’s hoops if the players get paid multiples more than in the USA. If it has a similar fan base there than here, then someone is subsidizing that. Welcome to Socialism!

There is no wage gap.

Women’s basketball does not draw the crowds the men’s teams do, and I’m not losing sleep over salaries of $200,000+ per year.

IMO most women don’t take the same level risks men do to earn higher salaries because we don’t have the same level of the hormone associated with higher risk taking—testosterone—as the men. Ever notice there are far less prisons for women than men?

That’s why. Women are not equal to men. They do not earn equal salaries in sports and entertainment because they don’t draw the crowds like the men do.

I hope you’re being facetious about equal pay because 60s era feminism claiming equality is pure evil.

How many until she got arrested heard of Britney Griner?

Vs LeBron being a household name?

Even folks who don’t like LeBron recognize his talent.

Feminism is evil for attempting to create a delusion of equality. We’re not men’s equal.

We need a welfare program.

Subsidized basketball for everyone.

Equal pay for equal work.

:face_vomiting:

Dude!!!

If it weren’t for double standards, some would have NO standards.

They’re like Orwell’s famous line:

We’re all equal. But some of us are more equal than others.

Liberal women=equal

Conservative men, particularly if they’re white=less =

Ironically feminism has done far more to destroy the lives of nonwhite women than enhance them, for example, teaching that what’s good for him is good for her—fetal alcohol syndrome. Children of unknown or disputed paternity.

Planned Parenthood clinics are largely situated in minority dominated neighborhoods. If abortion weren’t offered there, they actually provide needed healthcare, but alas it is .

That bleep LBJ amending affirmative action to include women has helped more unqualified white women, particularly those who cannot naturally meet physical fitness standards, get those jobs at the expense of qualified minority candidates.

It’s a very passive agressive means of destroying those they claim they want to help.

I love basketball :basketball: but good grief!

If Salesman X was Ms. Smith and she sold 50,000 widgets in a one year period, should she be compensated in commissions equal to Salesman Y, Mr. Jones, who sold 75,000 in the same period?

By the rationale of some, yes

Griner did the right thing eventually by pleading guilty, she will be sentenced soon and hopefully it will be time served with a deportation. She shouldn’t have brought drugs into Russia, not a smart move. But the US can do little about it except try a prisoner exchange and there are a lot of US citizens who would benefit more from this that have been imprisoned there longer and have done nothing wrong.

Plus, the Russians want this arms dealer, a literal “Merchant of Death”, as an exchange for Griner and that isn’t happening.

I don’t think she is getting time served

Perhaps not, but she is going to do time because she broke the law. We have folks stuck in Russian prisons now that need to get home way before her, she is at the back of the line.

Betcha it does after the Russians sweeten the pot.

Wealth redistribution from the A level game to the D level game. When you only generate enough interest to average less than 7,000 fans in the venue a game, you don’t get to demand an 18,000 fans a game salary.
