Movies that you recommend

The wife and I have been having a difficult time finding movies worth watching. So I would like to get some recommendations from everyone here.

PS - If there’s a thread like this ready let me know where it is.

What genres do you prefer?

“Madness of King George” …great movie about King George III.

History, drama, sci fi, no super hero stuff (seen too many already).

Serenity, but only after watching the series (single-season :frowning: ) Firefly. It’ll all feel like one big, wonderful movie that could’ve been longer.

The Conversation, Marathon Man, Day of the Jackal, The Parallax View, and Blow Out are great ones to start with. I’m into thrillers made when the audience had to be spoon fed everything.

Three days of the Condor and one of the all time classics, The Sting. Both great Robert Redford movies…

Have you watched all the Kubrick and David Lean films? David Lynch? Brian DePalma?

If you’re talking about new releases, they are very slim these days but my friend and I saw Top Gun Maverick and Elvis recently and both were very good.

You can stream a bunch of good films of the past that were actually made to entertain like Godfather I & II, To Kill a Mockingbird and I just recently streamed one of my favorites Giant with Rock Hudson, Liz Taylor and James Dean.

Dr Strangelove is one of the best films I’ve ever seen. So many amazing scenes.

The Coke machine scene makes me laugh every time I see it.
