Interesting thing about pee wee football. My son was on a pee wee team. His coach was all about teaching the kids good sportsmanship, and to that end he NEVER argued a bad call, but always gave in to the opposing team.
And the kids hated being on that team.
The parents hated it too. Some even stopped bringing their kids to practices and games.
The emasculating political correctness isn’t something new.
The 2nd string in doesn’t always slow down the scoring. I was listening to a high school game a number of years back where the 3rd and 4th string were still scoring so the coach started punting on 1st down.
That might be more embarrassing than a bad score though to the players.
Putting in the second and third strings when you can is actually a good opportunity to get those players experience, and builds up the squad you’ll depend on next year.
But sometimes an opponent is just plain whipped and the fourth team (if a school has that much depth on the line) will be eating up the field with them.
