Almost every person in this country has an ancestor that suffered some sort of oppression. Some more than others.

What is stopping them for fighting for reparations from the government if the government oppressed them?

1. Yes - making decisions through a “how does this affect me” lens is elementary school level reasoning.
2. Idleness being rewarded over industriousness negatively impacts the future. The Dark Ages blew. I try to make decisions in a way so that people who do (or strive to do) the right things are rewarded. My situation is largely irrelevant.

The movement denies it because they aren’t trying to have equal outcomes. You are applying that standard to the movement and you would be incorrect

Let’s say we did pass a reparations scheme for slave descendants. Would you distribute the funds equally or equitably?

Does a slave descendant who makes 1 million per year get less money than a slave descendant who makes 15,000 per year? Or would they both receive the same financial payout? Or would the one who makes 15,000 per year receive a larger portion?

After all, their ancestors suffered the same form of oppression. What is morally just in that scenario?

What about black people who were not descendants of oppression by USG policy, such as Kamala Harris and Barack Obama?
