Because our contributions are important and have historically been suppressed or whitewashed. We should not need black history… it should be American history but that wasn’t the case for hundreds of years.
Now we have a voice and it’s good to fill those historical gaps with actual information.

So if CRT doesn’t exist, you shouldn’t have any problems if we don’t teach it. Cool.

Then teaching facts about US history is great. No need to spend months every year wallowing in every detail of black history. No need for feelings and emotions. Just facts like has been taught for years.
Well… the thing is that the US is a multi cultural society.
Our foundation is based on the idea that All are created equal and that we all have unalienable rights. Pointing out where the nation has failed it’s own high ideals is imo instructive for continuing the conversation about out own national identity. That knowledge doesn’t make any particular group “evil”, but it does help us understand the present.
The same sort of criticism can be levied against France when in their Revolution they declared the Universal Rights of Man but fought to continue the subjugation of Haiti.
Shouldn’t examples of Black racism against Whites chip away at some of that 400 years? The Zebra killings in the San Fran Bay Area happened about 50 years ago. Whenever I’m in larger cities and get the chance, I try to go listen to the Black Hebrew Israelites for entertainment, and get called every name in the book because of how much they hate me. 40 years ago, in PE/school team tryouts I got picked after even the most unathletic Blacks for basketball.
Tell how much time in spent teaching about the first two way phone? Do they teach every failure? Do they teach about everyone involved and their history? No they teach the basic facts.
Uh huh.
So why is 1619 so important to you?

We should definitely teach all parts of our history from the good, the bad, the ugly as in slavery to civil rights and the liberal Democrat leftist tyranny hell we are living in today!

Thats right!! We are in an era of evil intent by self-proclaimed Democrat Socialists which is as unhealthy for the nation as it gets. Trust me if there was a pill or a vaccine to RID us of this evil destruction of the nation, I’d support mandating that! 
Well that’s not what I said at all.
History that is taught as a set of events that happened on certain dates is boring.
Dates are not as important as the why.

Depends on the lesson… engineers might spend more time diving deeper than teachers.
