Mitch McConnell just froze up during a presser

You said masses are stupid did you not? So let craft amendment to protect them from their own stupidity.

voting is a right or a citizen. being a senator is not.

I watch the video and I wonder what effect that fall had on him. He certainly looked like he was in trouble.
I hope he is okay.

But just not for who you want to…right?

And BTW…running for senate is a right as well.

being elected however is not.

Allan

lol. every citizen has a right to vote. no matter how stupid they are.

being stupid doesnt strip you of you rights as a citizen.

Allan

No it’s not…but since you want to put age restriction on it.

Do they? Since you’re the one that wants age restriction on who can run.

Can you say hypocrisy?

It’s OK to step aside.

Actually the masses ARE stupid.

Republicans and Democrats.

The average American is dumb as a box of rocks and 50% are dumber than that.

That is why we ended up with Trump v Biden and might again.

But it is not really so much a matter of protecting them from their own stupidity. Stupid will be stupid.

But it is a matter of combatting issues such as the power of incumbency, combined with the natural impulse of electoral inertia, that allows zombies such as Feinstein, McConnell, Grassley, Byrd, Biden, etc., etc., etc., ad naseum to get and maintain offices that they clearly are either not fit to hold or no longer fit to hold.

The Constitution already ā€œprotects from ourselvesā€ with things such as MINIMUM age limits for office (25 for Congress, 35 for President). So it is no big deal, actually no deal at all, to set additional limits for holding office.

If the Founders thought it okay to ā€œprotect us from ourselvesā€, then it is certainly not improper for current population to do the same.

There is another way to solve this issue without Constitutional change.

Abolish primary elections.

Go back to selecting nominees in a smoke filled room or by internal party procedure.

Primary elections were perhaps one of the worst results of the progressive era and have led to the many horrible candidates we see today.

After brain injuries in the elderly can have sudden misfiring of electrical signals in the brain. Its called a seizure. This is often called focal impaired-awareness seizures. My dad used to get these after his brain injury. The symptoms are very much what we saw with McConnel today. Again, its time for the guy to step down, let them appoint someone to fill his seat. Its not likely to get better at this point.

He’s another of these corrupt self-absorbed career politicians who demonstrate the necessity of term limits!

Brandon does that every time they send him out.

The new normal.

Drop it 10 on both and I’m with you.

And government

Actually, I’ll agree with this. You picked Feinstein as the example. Kudos to you. I’ll pick McConnell. He should have been primaried two cycles ago.

For that matter, Biden and Trump.

Yet the masses vote for these people.

But I won’t agree with an Amendment to limit age. (I question the 35 minimum for president, in fact.)

People should be able to see the deficiencies in these candidates. But too many voters can’t see beyond campaign hype hype.

lot of things are regulated. we just wont agree on this point so it is futile
to continue.

caio.

Allan

add the 17th amendment to that.
