Mitch freezes again

This is very sad. Not a MM fan by any means, but this is heartbreaking. He along with Feinstein trying to hold onto power for far too long.

Looks like it is. I had a TIA awhile back and my daughter says I did the same thing.

I wish you well my friend. That’s a tough hand on you and your family.

The reporter was asking if he planned to run again in 3 years. Please let the answer be “No.” At least we know Feinstein is on the way out.

That’s not good. Not good at all. At some point we have to call it what it is…elderly abuse.

I wish you well…not good for anyone no matter who they are.

Interesting Factoid: Among the 46 states that do give their governors authority to name replacement senators, 11 limit their field of choice in some way. Seven states – Hawaii, Kentucky, Maryland, Montana, North Carolina, West Virginia and Wyoming – make the governor choose from a list of nominees submitted by the previous senator’s party. (Kentucky joined that group last year, at the urging of Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell, age 80; perhaps coincidentally, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear is a Democrat.) A look at how states fill vacant Senate seats | Pew Research Center

Maybe he saw this coming.

McConnell is not up for reelection until 2026 and his current term runs to January 3rd, 2027. Another 3 1/3rd years.

A LONG time for somebody who is already in serious decline.

At least Feinstein is down to her last 16 months.

My niece had thousands of mini-seizures exactly like that before she was finally diagnosed. It was like she was randomly rebooting all the time. It could be seconds or minutes.

I still think it looks like Petit Mal seizures, which often happen after a traumatic brain injury. Since it is quite remote he should expect this to happen for the long term, it is no longer an isolated occurrence.

Any constitutional reform in regard to age/tenure limits needs to include a reduction in Senate terms to 4 years. 6 years is too long and the founder’s justification for such long terms went away literally 4 months into Washington’s first term.

Have an election where all 100 Senators are up at once, then half every two years from then on with 4 year terms.

Also would make the Senate more responsive, as well as ensuring that every American would be voting on a United States Senator at every general election, without being skipped every 6th year.

Eligibility still needs to be cut off at a certain age.

Section 8. The terms of all Senators shall expire at the first general election held at least 18 months subsequent to the ratification of this article of amendment, regardless of when they were previously scheduled to expire. Immediately after they shall be assembled in consequence of this election, they shall be divided equally into two classes, with the Senators of each individual State in separate classes. The seats of the Senators of the first class shall be vacated at the expiration of the second year and of the second class at the expiration of the fourth year, so that one half may be chosen every second year. Thereafter, Senators shall serve for the term of four years.

Do you really think the Kentucky state legislature would have removed McConnell by now?

I don’t care. Repeal the 17th!
