Mexican authorities began their nationwide crackdown on human smugglers this week; discovering approximately 800 migrants crammed into a series of semi-trailers heading towards the United States.

“Foreign Affairs Secretary Marcelo Ebrard said more than 150 of the 785 migrants found inside the double trailers of four semis Saturday in the Gulf coast state of Veracruz were children,” reports Fox New York.

“We can’t allow human trafficking,” Ebrard said. “We might be experiencing one of the greatest human trafficking (situations) in the world.”

Officials confirmed each migrant was paying $3,500 dollars to be smuggled into the United States.

Mexico deployed their National Guard to the southern border with Guatemala late last week; sending the troops to avoid a proposed 5% tariff on all Mexican goods entering the United States.

“Deployment of National Guard forces to Mexico’s southern border was due to start on Wednesday and will advance quickly under a migration control deal signed last week with the United States, Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard said on Wednesday,” reports Reuters.

“Starting from today, and in the coming days, the deployment is going to progress rapidly,” said Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard alongside Mexican President Obrador.

“The deal averted escalating import tariffs of 5% on Mexican goods, which U.S. President Donald Trump had vowed to impose unless Mexico did more to curb illegal migration into the United States,” adds the website.

US and Mexican officials have reportedly agreed to a 45-day timeline to crackdown on the flow of illegal immigrants crossing the United States’ southern border.

“A lot of things have to happen in 45 days,” Ebrard said. “We are going to do what we said we are going to do.”

The United States and Mexico reached a “signed agreement” Friday evening ending days of tough talks and forging a new deal that will suspend the White House’s 5% tariff on Mexican goods and crackdown on illegal immigration at the Southern Border.

“I am pleased to inform you that The United States of America has reached a signed agreement with Mexico. The Tariffs scheduled to be implemented by the U.S. on Monday, against Mexico, are hereby indefinitely suspended,” he said. “Mexico, in turn, has agreed to take strong measures to….stem the tide of Migration through Mexico, and to our Southern Border. This is being done to greatly reduce, or eliminate, Illegal Immigration coming from Mexico and into the United States. Details of the agreement will be released shortly by the State Department. Thank you!”
