A pilot giving their pre departure announcement has a captive audience. With football you can put it on mute or change the channel. You can’t do that on a plane. I question the mental stability of any pilot who feels the need inject a political statement into their announcement. That’s the same for “let’s go Brandon” now as it would have been for “not my president” four years ago. They’re either arrogant or insecure if they feel the need to insert a personal political belief.

Oh I can and do mute them, with noise canceling headphones. Agreed it’s not professional and liable to tick off your boss though.

Not giving a flip is not giving a flip. i.e. this would not be an issue in the sense of nobody would complain or even notice, really. What’s happening now is the opposite.
Yeah. I’m not sure what the point of the welcome announcement even is. I guess if you’re new to flying it might be comforting, otherwise it mostly background noise.
The other thing I’d add is that unless it somehow impacts their flying, the pilot’s political beliefs have zero impact on their flying ability. That Southwest pilot might be the best in the airline. I just don’t want to hear their political musings.
For me that extends to just about any job/profession. I don’t care if we have identical political views or are exact opposites. I don’t need or want to know. Just do a good job. I’ll actively avoid people/businesses who feel the need to display divisive opinions if there are remotely reasonable alternatives. Liberal, conservative, Democrat, Republican, religious, atheist, QAnon, antifa. I don’t want to hear it.

People not caring about his political views is not the same as people not caring about being forced to hear them.

Buy a sense of humor.
You buy a ticket for an airplane ride not comedy improv night.

I don’t care if my pilot is a Jets fan, had shrimp for lunch or is wearing a blue tie. Do you think that if I were forced to hear about these things, I’d raise a stink about it ? Would anyone ?

You’re just mad 'cause he’s yaboi. If he’d said something about Trump it wouldn’t have been a problem.

Those aren’t political views. If the pilot said “not my president” or “lock him up” or “you’re fired” in reference to Trump, would some people be upset? What if the pilot said “defund the police” or “black lives matter” or “abortion is a civil right?” Are those things all in the same category as sports team preference and dinner options?
Nope. I even said it doesn’t matter the political view. I don’t want to hear it.
This is the part where I’m directly or indirectly called a liar and told I really would be OK with it as long as our political views are the same.

He jumped on the hottest meme in the country right now.

Non sequitur. The “hottest meme in the country” is a political opinion. Not an excuse for it to be said in a professional setting. “Not my president” was the “hottest meme in the country” four years ago. It wouldn’t have been appropriate for a pilot to have said it then.

You’re right. We need to put a stop to this right now!
We don’t need to do a thing. That’s up to the pilot and his employer. I, and others, can question the professionalism of sharing divisive political opinions/memes with customers.
