CNN found itself in hot-water among US soldiers and veterans over the weekend, publishing a story that compared America’s journalists to those who have fought and died defending our freedoms.
The article, titled “The press isn’t the enemy, it’s the protector” was written by Joseph Holt and appeared on the network’s site Friday; urging Americans to “thank” reporters the same way they praise members of the military.
"We thank soldiers for their service because they devote themselves to protecting our freedoms, and we should. But we should also thank the media for the same reason – especially when the stakes have never been higher,” writes Holt.
Criticism of the article went viral on social media within minutes, with a reporter for the Daily Caller calling the story “disgraceful” and “minimizing the true sacrifice of our armed forces.”
