Factual basis, and coming to a conclusion based on those facts, does not mesh well with way too many self described conservatives, and their pre-conceived opinions/feelings.

That is the primary problem with their ideology. When facts deviate from their pre-conceived opinions/feelings, they default to those feelings, and deny reality.

I have been watching go on for close to 15 years.

What you say is very true, but the way you say it is bogus. It is not a conservative thing, but a human nature thing. Why do you think battered women go back to their abusers, or people with lung cancer continue to smoke? Most people in general make opinions on their personal experiences and facts be dammed. I cant tell you the amount of people that I have heard say they wont wear a seat belt because they dont want to be trapped in a car and burned alive. Facts be dammed on how many lives they save.

A human could hang a billboard in front of their face reminding them not to do this and we would still do it many times over each day. Can’t help ourselves.

When it comes to political ideology, there is one ideology, that denies truths and facts.
There is also one ideology that buys into nearly every crazy conspiracy theory making the opposing ideology look bad…no matter how much evidence of the contrary is presented.

You are correct that human nature comes into play. In general, there are idiots on both sides of the aisle.

But when it comes to political ideologies, many, not all, conservatives fall into the crazy conspiracy/fact free category. And they literally found their leader.
