Mass murder in Orange County, California

Nevermind, I found your answer.

For the benefit of full disclosure could you please indicate the date when this occurred?

Youā€™re the kind of guy who brings a knife to a gun fight, arenā€™t ya?

Do you really need to have this explained to you?

In case Bill.in.PA has difficulty in finding the date of the article it is the 3rd March, 2014.

Long guns rarely used in crimes. That is the point. Do you have data that shows otherwise?

They have been used in a few mass shootings the media have hyped. Even a perfect ban on ā€œassault riflesā€ would have no measurable affect on homicides.

The guy killed an armed security guard with a knife:

Officials say they were 39-year-old Pascual Rioja Lorenzo of Garden Grove, a customer who was fatally stabbed during a robbery at a Subway in Santa Ana, and Robert Parker, a 58-year-old Orange resident. Parker was working as a guard at a 7-Eleven in Santa Ana when the assailant disarmed and killed him.

Knives are responsible for almost four times as many murders as rifles:

Ban knives now!

Mass stabbingā€¦thank goodness he didnā€™t have a gunā€¦one that loads quicklyā€¦or it would have been much worse.

Remove all sharp objects from society. Thereā€™s no other way.

Itā€™s just pure hate that this guy did this ā€“ Garden Grove police Lt. Carl Whitney

Sounds like a hate crime to me, but hating everyone would not meet the legal requirements. The law says hate by itself is not enough; it must be directed towards someone based on their race, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, etc. The vast majority of murders are arguably based on some kind of hate, but hating a cheating spouse or a rival gang member does not make a murder a hate crime.

Of course one of the victims was an immigrant from Romania. If the suspect was particularly hateful of Romanians, that may qualify as a hate crime.

Have you found the date of the article you posted about the stabbings in China?

As much as people blame Trump for the mass murder in El Paso, I wonder if those same will blame Newsom for this one?

Please post a link a newer source if you find one that contradicts the Smithsonian article.

Of course in Britain they really are banning and restricting knives:

Here is the UK law:

Itā€™s illegal to:

  • sell a knife to anyone under 18, unless it has a folding blade 3 inches long (7.62 cm) or less
  • carry a knife in public without good reason, unless it has a folding blade with a cutting edge 3 inches long or less
  • carry, buy or sell any type of banned knife
  • use any knife in a threatening way (even a legal knife)

Sharp object control. Now! :sunglasses:

Exactly why are you addressing me specifically about this?

So therapists should be able to stop people from buying guns?

maybe

Iā€™m not sure what the OP is on about. There are mass shootings almost every single day in this country. At least by definition of the FBI (3 or 4 dead)ā€¦

Hell, just in the last 16 days this many people have been gunned down in these select towns/cities (this does NOT count those wounded). Just deadā€¦

10 Dayton
22 El Paso
3 Pomfret
3 Elkhart
3 Rosenberg
5 Lake Hallie
4 Gilroy
3 Albemarle

So just recently thatā€™sā€¦
2 mass shootings in Texas
1 mass shooting in OH
1 mass shooting in MD
1 mass shooting in IN
1 mass shooting in WI
1 mass shooting in NC
1 mass shooting in CA

Anyone want to start keeping a chart on knife mass killings?

Yeah but people get stabbed too so end of argument nothing we can do.

Youā€™re going to get a lot of flack from conservatives for even suggesting that.
