Pro-life activists visited the United States Supreme Court this week; placing 3,000 flowers on the steps of the nation’s highest court to remember the estimated 3,000 abortions performed in the United States each day.

This January marks the 47th anniversary of the historic Roe V Wade decision that effectively legalized the procedure in all 50 states across the country.

“In 1984, President Ronald Reagan issued a proclamation designating January 22 as the first National Sanctity of Human Life Day. Part of the proclamation states: “I call upon the citizens of this blessed land to gather on that day in homes and places of worship to give thanks for the gift of life, and to reaffirm our commitment to the dignity of every human being and the sanctity of each human life,” writes the National Pro-Life Center website.

President Trump is expected to address the annual March for Life event in Washington, DC this Friday.
