Many countries are realizing that it's time to reconsider the notion of asylum and the laws governing it as more and more seek to close their borders

I see nothing wrong with this bit of the 1917 language. Why should anyone like that from any country on Earth be allowed to see the light of an American day? :man_shrugging:

The “migration” scam here in America has left cities and towns with broken budgets unable to provide services for its citizens. Streets are ■■■■ holes and despite what the bull ■■■■■■■■ politicians assert, are dangerous and crime infested. The taxpayers are paying for illegal invaders to live in luxury hotels, enjoy debit cards and Medicaid coverage. Schools are overcrowded with children who not only cannot speak English but haven’t had any primary education at all! Tax paying citizens can’t use parks or their children enjoy recreational sports programs because the fields, gymnasiums and parks are being used to house illegal invaders. This nightmare will only get worse. City residents especially those dependent on social programs seeing their needs shoved aside while illegals are being cared for? When that fuse gets lit it won’t be pretty.

I’m all for this.

After the disastrous Biden Harris administration in America we have to establish a goal to completrly shut it down to get the immigration situation under control.

We cannot just take any and everyone who gives the drug cartels money and wanders into America.

Well said.

In America immigration needs to be to the benefit of our country and the American people.

That is not what is currently happening.

If significant deportations do not occur, then it does no good to elect a President who just wants closed borders. The next time a Democrat open borders type is elected again, they will just let in twenty million more to make up for lost time. Would be migrants need to know that entering illegally in masse during open borders times will not get them a free ticket for the rest of their lives.
And when they are allowed in on a temporary basis, that means temporary.

Countries are coming to the realization that asylum is largely pointless today as the OVERWHELMING majority of people fleeing their countries now has nothing to do with their race or religion as was the historical reason for the implementation of asylum.

The idea of immigration is that those that leave their native lands and come into their new host country, are doing so because it’s much better than what they left behind. Their responsibility to their new host country, is to ASSIMILATE into it and make it even better for all of us. It is NOT to set up a small version of what you left behind, which makes your new host country and your new fellow citizens…WORSE OFF! This isn’t that difficult to comprehend and if you can’t do it, this citizen says, “you aren’t welcome”.

Abdication of responsibility

No. We’re not concerned about legal immigration. We’re concerned about your border crashing invaders. Only the American liberal is this slow to learn that this mess is not benefitting our country.

All countries are now seeing that immigration is largely negative socially and economically.

Democrats want NO part of merit-based immigration. They would be perfectly fine legalizing every 5,000+ people per day into the country that shows up at the border, which is why they really liked that border bill.

It’s always kinda been merit based. The legal kind

A merit based system doesn’t have 60% of legal immigrants requiring some form of welfare.

That number is meaningless without “how long”.
I may have asked you this before. I am having Deja vu
Many and probably most legal immigrants require welfare but on average for only a few years.

And it’s exactly what Denmark is doing:

We should be more like Denmark.

will be interesting to see if the republicans in congress codify to the EO.

or just leaves it out there to be overturned in 2029

Freeze all asylum or refugee status to the US until it is confirmed that ninety percent of illegals have been removed. If the courts decide that is illegal, change the law.
We are being taken advantage of.

Asylum is a complete joke as it is merely based on the claims made by any individual. Anyone can simply make up any claim that they want and then try to travel anywhere they want to present their phony claim, and then create massive problems for the countries they go to:

Taxpayers are having to foot the bill for over 1,000 migrants who have been stuck in the asylum system for more than 10 years but Government has been unable to remove.

There are 1,096 failed asylum seekers currently receiving financial support and free accommodation who first applied 10 or more years ago, according to Home Office data obtained under Freedom of Information laws.

Many have managed to remain in the UK by launching multiple appeals against the rejection of their asylum claims or deportation orders, often on human rights grounds.

It would certainly seem so.

Like so many times (always) government tries to “help”, a noble idea becomes a freakin’ problem at taxpayer expense.

And government always wonders why the ressentiment.
