That’s exactly what a trial is supposed to determine. Where is the presumption of innocence? There is simply no good reason he has to be sitting in a cell.
Because he is nether a flight risk nor a danger to others. It’s not that sort of crime that he is accused of and he is too famous to get on a plane and flee and they don’t think he is trying to.
Manafort is presumed innocent. He hasn’t been found guilty, he hasn’t been sentenced. He just had his bail revoked. Now, he’s still presumed innocent, and awaiting trial, but with an additional charge added, and waiting in jail. Do you think everyone who awaits trial for a charge is free to walk around in the meantime? The jails are full of accused but not convicted people who’d like to have a word with you.
Let’s not play games. He is being PUNISHED for this new charge. That’s why his bail was revoked the state decided ALREADY that he had committed this new offense.
He is neither a flight risk nor a danger to others and that is why the great majority of people cannot get bail and sit in jail, or else they simply cannot make bail. He did make bail.
You mean other than the whole tampering with witnesses thing where they would testify in his own trial. I bet John Gotti would love to have you guys as supporters.
I’m also surprised a lot of you people don’t even understand that’s how it works. I’m gonna consider that a good thing.
You really don’t know how witness tampering works when a person is out on bail and awaiting trial do you? None of this stuff is new. There have been thousands of people that have had their bail revoked for the exact same reason.
You’re basically arguing that he should get a different set of rules than the rest of us. The real question is why?
You’re not allowed to commit crimes on bail, dunno what’s so hard about. Like they have literal proof because almost every person Manafort contacted about changing their testimony ratted him out.
It’s hard to believe that some have such difficulty understanding the nature of bail. Bail is a privilege. It is afforded to SOME accused, after being ordered by a judge. You have to pay for this privilege, and agree to the terms issued by the judge and the law. If you are caught breaking those terms, that privilege can be revoked. When that privilege is revoked, you go back to jail until your trial.
That’s the way it works. That’s the way it has worked for as long as I remember. My brother in law is a bail bondsman, so I understand this system rather well. His company has had bail revoked for stuff as minor as not updating his company when they move.
Why would Manafort be excused from the rules everyone else must follow? What gives him special privileges??
