I understand that. I run an assisted living program for people with developmental disabilities. One of the biggest manipulations we saw is our residents using their right to file complaints against staff for abuse or neglect or mistreatment.
four years ago we started to put video monitors inside their home or apartments, which we own. They are only in common areas, i.e. living rooms and kitchens. Before doing this, I used to have 4 to 5 state investigations each year on abuse or neglect. It would take weeks of my time to close one out. Now, we know immediately if there was an issue. We suspend staff, review recordings, and know if the resident was making things up, or if I have to terminated someone. I have had 1 state investigation in three years. So I agree, it has been a God Send for me, and for my direct care staff. They can do their jobs, follow behavior plans and do so without worrying about a false complaint being made.
