President Trump’s unfounded attacks on mail balloting are discouraging his own supporters from embracing the practice, according to polls and Republican leaders across the country, prompting growing alarm that one of the central strategies of his campaign is threatening GOP prospects in November.

Multiple public surveys show a growing divide between Democrats and Republicans about the security of voting by mail, with Republicans saying they are far less likely to trust it in November. In addition, party leaders in several states said they are encountering resistance among GOP voters who are being encouraged to vote absentee while also seeing the president describe mail voting as “rigged” and “fraudulent.”

As a result, state and local Republicans across the country fear they are falling dramatically behind in a practice that is expected to be key to voter turnout this year. Through mailers and Facebook ads, they are racing to promote absentee balloting among their own.

For those of you in NC, this is becoming a real issue for Trump and Republicans as well.

Similarly, an analysis of current absentee ballot requests in North Carolina shows that Democrats have vastly outpaced Republicans, even though roughly the same numbers of Republicans and Democrats voted by mail four years ago.

“Everybody’s up,” said Michael Bitzer, a politics professor at Catawba College in Salisbury, N.C., who conducted the analysis. “It’s just that Democrats and unaffiliateds are through the roof, and Republicans are not even on the second floor.”

The problem is between now and November Trump is going to ■■■■ with the postal service to try and make sure as many of those ballots don’t get submitted in time to be counted.

There had better be a huge effort by Dems to get people to understand to mail their ballots in ASAP.

Hell…I’m getting a mail in ballot for the November election. Instead of mailing it I may take it to the county offices myself.

Impossible to tell since only the most egregious frauds can be detected and only then if people are actually looking.

We know the fraud exists, and that alone is reason to do all we reasonably can to eliminate it.

Many elections are won decided over a mere handful of votes or even less.

Florida’s cluster ■■■■ happened in 2000.

Florida has been doing no excuse vote by mail since 2002.

No significant problems in 18 years.

Florida is proof positive that vote by mail is a safe and efficient method of voting.

It was the horrible ballots that created the problem in 2000.

Once Florida banned everything but scan-tron ballots, its problems disappeared completely. And no problems have developed with vote by mail in 18 years.

Trump’s plan seems to be working perfectly.

At this point maybe that really is his plan. Cook it to where he literally doesn’t have a chance so he can say it is a rigged system and bow out. Then announce he will do more good fighting the crooked system by starting his new anti-establishment news channel.
