Harley is reacting exactly how those receiving the tariffs on the other side of the ocean will hopefully react. Bring the production to the market that will be buying them. The US will gain much more than it loses.

So making America great again is going to be predicated on hoping that foreign companies move production to the US? Not by trying to keep American companies here and running strong? Wow. OK. That’s quite a spin on it. I’ll just let it sink in for others who have listened to the Trumpist rhetoric and see the hypocrisy.

The more they talk the more I believe Trump and his people don’t quite get the concept of a global economy.

Its already happening. Harley sends $45 million in production overseas, $5 BILLION in steel production returns to the USA, $5 billion to be invested in the USA, a USA steel plant re-opened, 300 steel plant jobs return. The area of Missouri where the plant is located voted 80% for President Trump. Glassman said he can’t say whether people in town are still supporting the president.

“They are scared, they are worried about their families. It’s not like there are tons of other manufacturing jobs,” he said. “If I were a Mid-Continent worker, I would be extremely unhappy with what this administration is doing.”

These are fellow Missourians, but it is not like this is some shock to them either. Trump campaigned on this trade war crap.

Reminds me of that Alabama mayor who was recently begging the EPA not to make the Trump changes (they have had multiple coal ash problems) that would potential hurt his town again. I looked the county up and they voted like 80% Trump.

It’ll be interesting to see whether this changes their perspective or not. Popular Bluff is supported as a town by this Corporation. Without it, the town will likely die in most appreciable ways. Will they still be all in for the GOP after the town dies and like many ruined manufacturing towns, most will be on welfare and drugs will become an even greater problem for them. Or will they recognize this is a direct result of the man they personally supported?

they were never freedom loving and they were never were against a politician (their own) attacking a private business.

many simply want white people > 50% of population and everybody else (added together) < 50% of the population. that’s a huge one.

many feel like the country is lost if there are 49.99% white people. and, ironically, the 2010 Census listed Whites at 72.4% of our population.
