Well, he’s been tweeting that he’s going to take care of it if local officials do not . “If you don’t do it, I will”. Pretty unambiguous, no ?

Maybe he will. If he does, there will be a political uproar.
And what if the states resist?
I note that tweet was from June 10. Anybody see the feds march into Seattle yet?

LOL, right.

Yes, there likely would be uproar. But Trump is the tough “Law and Order” president who isn’t politically correct and who’ll do whatever it takes to be all Lawy and Ordery and protect 'Murica, right ?

We seem to be moving this discussion from a city that does nothing to stop an insane left wing mob to Trump tweeted about being tough in Seattle on June 10.
If I were a Democrat, I would approve of the move of that discussion.

I’m not at all trying to absorb Seattle’s inept local government of their responsibility in all this. That’s the difference.

Agree with Ann Coulter or disagree ?

I do agree it wouldn’t have happened in Ronald Reagan’s America, but that is not because of differences between Reagan and Trump, it is the difference between America in the 1980s and America today. For all the political differences then between Democrats and Republicans, I don’t think Democrat mayors and Democrat governors would have allowed these events to have occurred in their states then without taking action.

To be fair, that’s still more than those who are responsible for fixing it are doing.

Really, so same exact situation on local level - you seriously think Reagan would just allow this to go on without intervening all the while randomly shouting “LAW AND ORDER !” ?

He would not have tweeted. But then that wasn’t an option then. Would he have stepped in and taken over a state where Democrats refused to act?
No basis for speculation.

I said shouting, not tweeting. Anyhow, I don’t agree. In one sense, he’s the mirror opposite of Trump - lots of action, little talk.

Tell the mayor. Tell the state senator. Tell the state congressman. Tell the Governor. They have the authority…why aren’t they using it? That’s the problem? It’s begun with them. It is them…and I want to know, why aren’t you focusing on the problem of why they aren’t fixing their own problem, with in their district of responsibility?

I am not absolving any of them of responsibility. If you recall , I said “partially” fair when it came to President Trump

The buck actually stops there at local and state government. Trump intervening would be potentially an overstep and we both know the media would portray it that way. This is up to the Governor, going on national television and asking the President for help…if Trump was to step in. Agreed?

Who cares how the media would portray it ? Trump is on Twitter posturing how he’s going to take care of it while doing zero work. What Ann Coulter said is true, Reagan would not let this happen.

Seriously? Voters!!! There’s an election coming up…and I assure you, the Democratic party cares. This is a set up.

Lol yes indeed, why do any actual work at all ? The big bad media might be mean to him if he does any work.

Better fresh up on golf and twittering, media obviously won’t take him to task for that

Ok, ok, ok…I’m sure you’re good at what you do but don’t ever apply for a campaign manager’s job?

Media doesn’t like him building the wall either, I guess he better cancel that lol

Can’t do anything unless you get media’s approval first, that’s how you make America great again , amiright ? :joy:

“current” is the key word my friend.

He is not doing nothing. Pay attention to the federal busts of bad actors at protests.

Warms my heart actually. The feds have come out and said, we have you on video acting illegally, you can expect us to show up to collect you as we identify you. A lot of people are in for a rude awakening now that Obama and Holder aren’t there to have their backs.
