Lumber prices tumble 60% (sign of rapid housing deflation to come)

What amazes me are those who build their own necks…No way would I have the patience to do that.

It’s good to get the dimensions right or you’ll have to find another use for the guitar.

That’s awesome.

Nice work!

I’m a luthier on the side. I use trans tint all the time.

It’s one of my favorite parts of the process now. Just takes experience.

Only think I don’t do regularly is cut my own fret slots because the pre-slotted boards are way more accurate and precise.

I have tons of pics of the process along the way if anyone is interested.

Top two are transtint with Nitrocellulose lacquer. Lap steel is Tru Oil.

Damn…nice work. I play slide quite a bit, on acoustic mostly. Have a Taylor Academy and Big Baby.

This is wipe on poly over Keda Dye…A console table I made out of soft maple, drawer box is poplar.

Lovely. Wipe on poly is something I’d like to try.

I’m trying to move away from Nitro as it’s so toxic and I hate wet sanding. But hard to beat the depth of finish…

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I have a cnc router for that part.

Nice! would love to see your set up.

I can’t send PMs so hit me up…

I’ve been wanting some 30’ manufactured beams to expand my shop with an extension of the bonus room as well. Looks like patience and laziness are finally going to pay off.

Here’s a stock photo of the machine, it’s called Shark Pro CNC. The table is 25x25 inches, not big but it’s amazing what it can do. I need to dig up some pics of projects I’ve used it on, they’re buried in a bigass file after my hard drive crashed and I had to retrieve everything from Carbonite.

There’s a fella whose chosen name is Stumpy Nubs with a YouTube channel that features everything from tip, to home built tools to … well … tool porn of what you can buy when money is Fesstool … er, no object.

Here’s an example:

Nice! That’s a pretty cool sander!

how hard is it to learn to program it?

I think Ive seen a few of his vids.

So start a Nitrocellulose sniffing thread.

Thx …I usually go with 5 coats…steel wooling after the second. It killed me to do that top black, was beautiful piece of maple, after I cut and planed it to size etc, the recipient decided she wanted black…I went with diluted india ink…A pain to work with, dries really fast. Was the only way to get the color she wanted, stain or dye didnt get the deep black she wanted.
