Maybe things have changed since I was in, I was in 85-92, I was not a grunt so I have zero idea what training Marines get at SOI, so if I am wrong, I am wrong. When I was in we went straight to our A school after our 10 day boot leave, now as I understand all Marines go to either Geiger or Pendleton before going to their MOS A school. I also know that Marines with an 03XX MOS have different training than all other Marines who do not have an 03XX MOS.
I now know what you meant by Barracks Duty, I read it wrong and assumed wrong.
As far as the White House, pretty sure the Secret Service is in charge of security along with Capitol Police.
On ships Marines guard nukes, Navy protects the actual ship the nukes are on. Marines are not on every Naval ship.
I was in the wing, Jet Mech to be specific on the A4’s.

All that said, I still am not comfortable with using Marines in this situation, we are not in the sandbox, this is the US.

Grandma trespassed (a misdemeanor) in the capital and you progs through her in jail. You progs put up rat of your neighbor web sites to hunt grandma down for walking through the capital. You rounded up people at work, at school and the prog cry was no one is above the law. Enjoy your payback.

I wouldn’t make a good president at all because I would have already lost my cool and have everyone arrested dropped off in the jungle of the Congo.
After the first couples of days it has morph to just looting and vandalizing under the false pretense and cover of protesting.
The night before they case the area and return the next day to loot the businesses under the cover and distraction of the chaos of a pseudo protest.
Stealing anything they can get their hands on. Even stealing sushi.

Not getting to be where you want to be isn’t a punishment. A trespasser isn’t punished by removing them from someone else’s,property.
Immigration hearings are to determine someone’s status, not to punish them. Thus a different level of due process.

I was in the Marines 88-92 and it was the same. Boot, 10 days leave, then off in my case to SOI. Now directly after boot everyone goes to MCT (Marine Combat Training). It is my understanding that it is the same training I got in boot during our week of “bivouac “.
No worries. It was a big deal for 0311’s upon Graduation to get orders for either barracks duty or the fleet.
Fun. I was a crew chief while in the Army.
