Lol - Welcome to the land of the free!

I’m willing to let those who were there and dealing with the case make the call on what’s appropriate.

From the OP.

" A student in 6 th grade created a disruption in the classroom. The School Resource Officer and Dean of Students responded to the classroom and attempted to calm the student down. The student was asked over 20 times to leave the classroom by the Dean of Students. The School Resource Officer then intervened and asked the student to exit the classroom and he refused. The student left the classroom and created another disturbance and made threats while he was escorted to the office. "

I’m sure the officers were terrified for their lives.

Eleven year olds have a history of following through threats.

No he didn’t. But neither did the substitute teacher. At least not yet.

The substitute will no longer be allowed to work in that district. I’m sure it won’t be long until they get rid of her completely.

Any questions?

So by that logic asking a kid questions in class warrants a twenty minute tantrum disturbing the class, followed by refusing to leave so that the rest can resume with the regularly scheduled activities.

If we allow kids to takeover classrooms in such a manner how much schooling do you think will be taking place in our public schools?

Such a reaction no matter what the reason barring an unlawful act by the teacher warrants expulsion.

The DA has already said they’re not going to press any charges. This was a humbling, nothing more.

Authority shall not be questioned!

Where exactly did I suggest charges should be pressed? Can you link to the post?

I didn’t say that you did.

I’m just pointing out that “pressing charges” was never on the table at all. The school and the cops just wanted to humble him for resisting their authority and refusing to say the pledge.

No, it had nothing to do with him refusing to say the pledge. Read the story.

It has everything to do with the pledge.

If the substitute teacher hadn’t demanded he say the pledge and insulted him when he rightfully refused, this incident would never have occurred.

The substitute teacher is the villian of this story - not the kid.

But then again, Authority Must Never Be Questioned - even if it means another kid loses faith in this country.

She didn’t demand he say the pledge, she simply questioned him on why he refused to.

Read the story.

Vending machines kill people, too.

She had no right to question him - and she did insist, singling him out in front of his class, mocking him, and calling the principal when he refused.

But again - you’ve made your position clear. Authority Must Not Be Questioned. As you said- the kid got what he deserved.

Looks like the teacher mouthed off at him first. But hey! Let’s arrest the 11 year old for not being the adult in this situation…

Authority Must Never Be Questioned.

Yes defend the adult who yelled at a 11 year old in front of the class for not standing up.

I have no idea what the heck you were trying to say with that rambling, incoherent reply.

It is a fact that the substitute teacher is no longer allowed to work in that district.

And if you think that anyone who will tell an 11 year old he should get out of this country in front of the class after first confronting him in front of them all is the kind of person who should be allowed to keep teaching, you’re as wrong as they are.

You and others are acting like the kid is the devil incarnate and not just a child who had every right to be distraught after what she herself admits to telling him while confronting him and trying to force him to do something that has never been a problem for him before and something she had no right to do.

She was 100% in the wrong here, and that you’re now willing to blame the kid for the inability of the other adults to properly remedy the situation without causing him more unneeded aggravation and pain is crazy.

You’re making things up.

She had every right to discuss it with him, he’d already singled himself out refusing to even stand.

Let’s run with this shall we?

Child is taught not to have any respect for authority, not to comply with authority, and to refuse to comply with police.

What are the chances of that kid ending up dead or in prison before he’s 25?

Pretty damned high.

lol - speaking of making things up.
