I have a couple of suggestions for white males stuck in corporate HR hell:

1. Become a contractor, work for yourself. Then you can tell the HR ladies “no thanks” when they advertise the annual encounter meetings or diversity training.
2. Change the sex on your birth certificate to Female if your state allows it. Then you can accuse your bosses of being transphobic or sexist if they give you any static. You could just claim to be a “masculine-presenting” female and live your life the same as always.

That’s not how discrimination lawsuits work. They’re not based on “the world’s” feelings.

A corporation is liable for discriminatory actions of their employees, not for whether or not the world thinks they’re racists.

The purpose of the training is to train their employees to not discriminate, so they won’t get sued.

I totally agree most of the time it’s a complete waste of time…

Although, I participated in a program with a 40 year old white female who has lived an Mississippi/Alabama all of her life. Her name was Tamara. Because, her 1st name is typically associated with blakk folks; she had so many interesting observations and stories that I as a black man had not given alot of thought too.

She told multiple stories of employers, landlords, and places of business discriminating against her before they realized her race. She internalized her hurt and pain and kept it mostly pillow talk with her close family.

It was fascinating to hear her experience.

The training began with a “free association” exercise led by diversity trainers, who asked employees to list what they associate with the term “white men.” According to Rufo, the trainers wrote down “old, racist, privileged, anti-women, angry, Aryan Nation, KKK, Founding Fathers, guns, guilty, and can’t jump .”

This part was hilarious. I would love to know the guy who raised his hand to get that one on the board.

Who said anti-women? Speak for yourself!

So in short, they did a list of stereotypes.

Microaggressions are soooo real for me. I just giggle inside when it happens.
