I don’t live near Freo but more generally there has been a trend to increase the housing density of many inner suburbs.

They doing the Singapore approach retail ground floor residencials above in high rises. I got to go back for a visit.
Whilst there is a trend to build apartment blocks in and around the Perth CBD, in the suburbs it is more replacing the 1/4 acre block to a much smaller block size or replacing with units etc.
