2020 presidential hopeful Sen. Cory Booker doubled-down on his calls for a universal healthcare scheme throughout the United States Monday; saying a ‘Medicare for All’ system would actually save taxpayers money over the next decade.

Booker was speaking with CBS News when he was asked how he planned to finance a massive expansion of the Medicare system and whether Democrats were “being honest” with Americans.

“How much would ‘Medicare for all’ cost?” asked host Norah O’Donnell. “Just quickly, just so that people know how much it would cost?”

“Even the CBO says if you lower Medicare to allow 50-year-olds to get into it, you can not only save the government money, but you can lower premiums for all Americans,” Booker said. “This is the thing. We’re not talking directly to issues that can expand access to care and create affordability,” said Booker.
