I do. All up side and appropriate.
Hopefully some bipartisan members can agree and make the proposal.

It is about Peoria, slavery condoned and encouraged in the region contrary to law, and also encompasses all civil rights.

You are absolutely correct the region ignore slavery contrary to law. I am glad Abraham Lincoln set that young girl free. We need to tell that touching story of history.

And I’m saying since this is about a gravesite in Peoria, if you truly want something done about it, your best bet is to take it up with the local government there.

I think I will also.
Give Toomey the scoop.
I cannot imagine this hasn’t been thought of.

It was a case of slavery was illegal, but people just ignored the law. It’s right there in the article. Same type of thing goes on today. Not with slavery, though.

Jayjay read the article please. It is more than Peoria. It is our history that we should reflect on. BTW, I am the originator of this thread and believe it is more than Peoria. It is American History, the good, bad, and ugly. We need to come together.

I get all of this…however I will reiterate…AGAIN…the gravesite itself is in Peoria, which is under the jurisdiction of the local government there.
They are the logical starting point to get something done, if you truly want to do something about it, and not the President of the United States or any branch of the federal government.

Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. 2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. 3 If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves. 4 Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else, 5 for each one should carry their own load. 6 Nevertheless, the one who receives instruction in the word should share all good things with their instructor. Galatians 6 NIV
