Let's Talk About Changes to Policing

I look at murder rates, rising violent crime, convenience stores being looted and i don’t think “Damn! We have got to stop the cops from speaking harshly at people and tricking them into opening their car’s trunk.”

I think “Damn! the people with that sort of agenda have really gutted our police protection. Those idiots are causing real harm to America and it is time to start fighting crime.”

Cops don’t prevent murders. They draw chalk outlines and put up tape.

Myth.

Murder on the rise
Me: We need more cops with more power
Them: We need to handcuff the police.

Violent crime on the rise
Me: We need more cops doing more to fight crime
Them: We need anti-cop activists who have never been ciops telling cops how to do their jobs.

Rape is on the rise
Me: We need to stop this
Them: I don’t care. Rape shmape. We must stop the cops from tricking people into showing IDs then and only then can we worry about itty-bitty little trivial things like rape and murder.
.
.
.
Me: “well then. What should we do about crime.”
Them: " Nothing. Nothing at all. Zero.I have zero proposals for fighting crime. We must fight the cops."

Cops don’t prevent crime, they react to it.

Your fear does not trump another person’s rights.

In fact, the mentality you display here is precisely what led us to the current police state in which we find ourselves.

And what do you propose we start doing to combat the rise in crime from murder, to store looting to rape?

Not allow cops to run rampant over rights.

What you are advocating is Chauvin-ism.

And how will your plan reduce rape, murder, muggings, and rampant theft?

It still sound to me like you are saying you don’t care about such things.or at least that you have no proposals for reducing such things.

You’ll get no argument from me. So many traffic stops are nothing more than a fishing expedition. If you are pulled over for something other than a moving violation like a broken license plate light, they have no right to run your ID. It’s an excuse for lazy police work.

Why can they run your ID for a moving violation?

At that point, you have broken a law.

An ordinance, but ok. What does my previous history have to do with this “break”?

They are fishing for warrants and bigger fish. That golden felony arrest. Track to promotion.

Another thing, cop complaint forms need to be online and reviewed by outsiders.

Hurry . . .
send in the better parents (lights and siren)

It already happened. Why didn’t cops prevent it?

Crime rate drops

  • when there are more police
  • when police respond sooner
  • when police don’t have their hands tied by slimey jackpot lawsuits
  • (and probably when police departments are overseen by cops not by whacky armchair political theorist)

Rudy Giuliani made NYC a safe city.
Frank Rizzo made Philadelphia a safe city.
Neither one of them used parenting classes. Neither one put inexperienced political activists in charge of the police.

No it doesn’t. It moves.

Both of them violated Constitutional rights.

I would rather 100 guilty people go free than violate one right.
