Let's hope this trend continues

What specifically about being poor makes it harder to learn?

I find it interesting that you claim government getting involved in school vouchers will cause tuition costs to rise, yet you guys are the same ones that claim government subsidized insurance programs will bring healthcare costs down… Which is it? Does government involvement tend to increase or decrease costs?

You seem bent on creating equity where it can’t ever be created. We’re not all equal, and absolutely nothing the government does can change that fact. We’re not equal going in and and therefore can never be made equal coming out, so to say it’s unfair to give everyone the same amount of money from the pot because some already had more going in is ridiculous. I guarantee you those poor contribute far less to that pot than the non poor. So basically you just advocate for the confiscation and redistribution of wealth on principle, so long as your side gets to decide how much is confiscated and how it’s redistributed, and the fact that the primary receivers of that redistribution tend to vote for those advocating the confiscation is purely coincidental.

There are many things that could be done to improve bad schools and provide a better but Libs reject every one of them for one reason or another, meanwhile the problem get worse. You know the definition of insanity?

Stability. Living in poverty increases the chance of having an unstable home environment, which increases the likelihood of struggling with schooling.

Government can’t fix broken families. Government can’t make people more intelligent. Government can’t make people more motivated. Government can’t make parents better parents. Government can’t make kids more interested. Government can’t make all kids equally mentally and physically healthy. Government can’t make sure all kids live in safe neighborhoods. Government can’t make parents make wise decisions. Government can’t make parents more involved in their children’s lives. Government can’t make sure kids get adequate sleep. Government can’t make kids not get involved with the wrong crowd. Government can not stop school bullying and other stresses that affect kids. Government can not make kids not take drugs. Government can’t make sure kids aren’t left alone to fend for themselves while parents are at work or somewhere else. Government can’t make sure kids get fed nutritious meals. Government can’t make kids not act up in class. Government can’t get rid of bad teachers. Government can’t keep kids from skipping school…

Yet you believe the government can create equality in students and classes and help the poor kids do better by denying help to those who are better equipped to be helped. Typical Lib. Just like socialism, you guys always reduce people and organizations down to the lowest level of achievement because no one gets to move unless everyone moves equally and eventually no one even tries anymore, which just reduces everything further.

Our public schools have been in a death spiral and you guys just keep saying "ONE MORE TRY, ONE MORE TRY, ONE MORE TRY, ONE MORE TRY, ONE MORE TRY SOMEDAY THIS WILL WORK…ONE MORE TRY!

We already know tuition will rise because it’s the same system we use for universities.

Great. Aren’t conservatives doing the same thing by providing everyone the same amount in Iowa? Providing $7800 which is well above what most Iowans pay in property taxes.

Why are conservatives for redistribution of wealth when it comes to vouchers?

There are conservative posters on this board who have shared their stories of being on public assistance when they were kids and who now lead productive self sufficient lives.

Recently goverment help my business, and many posters here, including many conservatives who have discussed this, survey the pandemic.

It’s simply not true that the government can’t help people.

And it’s very ironic that you are claiming government programs can’t help anyone in the thread you started that praises a government program that costs a state 345M a year, and is designed to help people.

Soooo it’s not the money. It’s the parents.

Effect, not cause.

The parents could be working multiple jobs. They could be forced to move multiple times to find work. All things that cause instability.

Increasing the cost will not increase the amount of money that comes with the student.

If a school today costs $9000 and someone in Iowa brings a $7800 voucher… what happens to the value of that voucher… at that school, when they raise the price to $16800?

One of…

Hire the best teachers away from public schools. Teachers who are tired of the crap they are forced to be complicit in by lib school boards.

Private school, on avg, have lower pay and benefits than public schools.

Oh and you didn’t answer the question. What happens when a great private school fills to capacity? Will they ruin their great student to teacher ratio? Or raise prices?

Which is exactly why the predominance of students in private schools come from upper middle-class to wealthy families. Lower middle-class and poor people simply cannot afford to pay the private tuition plus the school tax. Vouchers may still leave out the poor, but it opens the door for the lower middle-class families.

Vouchers do not redistribute wealth. They redirect individual taxes.

Vouchers take tax dollars at a higher amount than what most families pay in property taxes and transfer. T

Government can help. It can help by letting parents chose where their kids go to school to obtain their mandatory education without causing them financial hardship.

Until the schools raise prices.

You’re presuming. Is that the college model you were talking about?
