Let us be clear. President Trump cannot shut down the federal government!

And answered again before it was asked yet another time. It is tiring. Lol

#679

This is a great point.

Donald Trump is either a liar or an idiot.

I support the President with respect to the absolute necessity of securing our border in a manner which would prevent the following kind of invasion which took place on New Year’s Day … an invasion proving that puny fences don’t work:

I remember quite clearly in 1985 when 2.5 million illegal entrants were granted amnesty in return for the Democrat Leadership’s guarantee a wall would be built and our border secured. And here we are today with 10-15 million new illegal entrants and our border is still not secured. And so, on this particular subject I do support President Trump and millions upon millions of American Citizens who are suffering the devastating social and financial impact of illegal border crossings who want our border secured once and for all!

Why is there such resistance among the democrat members of Congress in approving a measly $5.7 billion to secure our border and build a wall where the geographical terrain calls for one?

How many more American citizens have to be killed by illegal entrants, before our border is secured? How many more mothers will be permanently separated from their children who are killed by an illegal entrant, or a child is permanently separated from its parents because an illegal entrant has killed them, while the Democrat Party Leadership refuses to fulfil its 1985 promise and constitutional duty as commanded in our Constitution and “repel” this ongoing invasion?

If President Trump does not hold firm on the absolute necessity of securing our border, not only will he be allowing the shameless Democrat Party Leadership to continue reneging on its 1985 guarantee to build a wall and secure our border, but he will be turning his back on millions of American citizens who now, at this very moment, are suffering the devastating impact of illegal border crossings and illegal immigration.

JWK

Illegal immigration is now costing American citizens over $18 billion a year in healthcare costs alone, far more than the measly $5 billion asked for to build a wall! LINK

#681

We have a wall where it’s needed. Trump wants to build a monument to his ego. It has nothing to do with border security.

It’s Trump’s demand. It’s Trump’s shutdown.

#682

Tell that to Cpl. Ronil Singh’s wife, his 5-month-old son, and Reggie his brother. See Slain officer Ronil Singh’s wife, infant son and K-9 escorted to candlelight vigil for the latest tragedy because of illegal border crossings.

The Democrat Party Leadership has been behind this ongoing invasion of our southern border since 1985 when amnesty was granted to 2.5 million illegal entrants in return for a guarantee to build a wall and secure our border. And here we are today, no wall, but 10-15 million more illegal entrants.

#683

When and where did his killer cross the border?

#684

I gave you a legitimate source.

Would ascentral, part of USA TODAY, convince you contracts are being made with the money available for the Trump Administration?

If so, see

$324 million contract awarded to replace border fencing near Yuma, Lukeville

#685

Yes. That’s a good link. Thank you. Sincerely. Unfortunately that is part of the 10% that is being spent of the allocated funds. My question is in regards to the other 90% of allocated funds from last year that remain available still to be spent. Why has that money not been put towards securing the border already? Shouldn’t they spend most of what they have before asking for more?

#686

If you were really serious about tracking down the money the Trump Administration is spending on wall/barrier construction, you would do some research. But just to play your game one more time see:

Texas construction firm wins $145 million contract to build border wall in Rio Grande Valley reported in the Dallas News

Nov. 3rd

"A Texas company has been granted a $145 million federal contract to build six miles of wall along the U.S.-Mexico border in the Rio Grande Valley.

Galveston-based SLSCO will start construction of an 18-foot, reinforced concrete levee wall in February, the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol said

….

The wall will be the first section of President Donald Trump’s border barriers in the Rio Grande Valley, which is the busiest corridor for illegal crossings."

#687

Sigh. Another day draws to a close on the Trump Christmas/New Year Shutdown. I am so tired of the games he is playing.

#688

Yeah! Let’s do some math… $145M for six (6) miles of wall… Let’s assume we only need to build 1600 more miles and the border will be “secure”… $145M divided by 6 equals about $24.1M per mile… 1600 times $24.1M equals… around $38 billion… Why only ask for $5 billion when the real cost is $38 billion?

#689

Great news, the house passed the bill to end the partial shutdown. Since we’re all about procedure, who is next in the chain to blame?

#690

You’re completely ignoring two things: volume discounts, and Trump’s incredible ability to not pay contractors for work after they’ve performed it.

#691

Trump isn’t paying them this time around either, the taxpayers are. Nice try though.

#692

Not sure how your reply makes sense in response to my obviously sarcastic post.

#693

Cool story bro.

#694

Now I really have no idea what you’re getting at. Care to explain?

#695

I’ve heard that if you keep rolling your eyes like that, they’ll stay that way.

#696

So is it clear to everyone now that Trump shut down the government?

If not, what at post 639 needs to be explained?

#697

Bigger “sigh”!

Another day and the Democrat Party Leadership continues to conspire to allow our border to be invaded, while American citizens suffer the devastating social and economic impact of this ongoing invasion.

The Democrat Party Leadership has been behind this ongoing invasion of our southern border since 1985 when amnesty was granted to 2.5 million illegal entrants in return for a guarantee to build a wall and secure our border. And here we are today, almost 35 years later, and still no wall nor the securing of our border. But we do have 10-15 million new illegal entrants, and the devastating social and economic impact which American citizens suffer. The latest victims being Cpl. Ronil Singh’s wife, his 5-month-old son, and Reggie his brother.
