Not everything is a personal dig. Relax and enjoy the banter.
As expected. Run along now just down’t snag your skirt on the door jamb on the way out.
How old are you? What next “your mom” jokes.
Old enough to be the adult in the room.
And here is why some of us have been talking about herd immunity. According to a new report by the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP) unless there is a vaccine the virus will not go away until 60-70% of the population has been infected and a herd immunity sets in.
For people who don’t know what that means it is the percentage needed to have immunity in a country to were the virus dies out quick because it has a hard time finding new hosts to infect. A herd immunity can be achieved by a few ways two of which is a vaccine which lets hope Dr Fauci is right or when enough people get sick reaching that percentage by itself.
What they are saying in the report is without a vaccine this doesn’t go away regardless of sheltering in place it will just come back or pop up in new areas and restart again until enough people are infected or we have a vaccine. So to put it bluntly they are saying without a vaccine within 18-24 months 60%-70% of the country will have been infected with covid-19 because of its rapid spread rate and the fact that it can spread before symptoms appear.
This actually coincides with and early report released by Germany said and Angel Merkel said 60-70% of Germans will get covid-19. As I said I hope Fauci is right but the CIDRAP could be right instead, and as soon as the lockdown orders are taken away it will just shoot right back up again.
Even with 60-70% Being exposed we’ll still just be on the threshold of getting to the 85-95% necessary to avoid some serious but localized outbreaks continuing.
Continue to protect the vulnerable but get America moving again as it is in all our best interests both from a health/safety/immunity stand point but economically as well.
Yes that would have been nice from the start, protect those that needed it the most they can stay and work from home if not they should have been getting the stimulus checks and everyone under 60 try to keep the economy churning while a herd immunity was setting in. They are considering this in India because the population is so young.
Let’s say Governor Cuomo was right last week when he said 25% of residents in NYC based on testing have already had coronavirus. That number is probably closer to 30+% now close to half way to getting herd immunity. Less chance of getting infected when 70% have immunity.
The 95% Of The “Most Vulnerable” are well beyond working age to start with.

Yes. But it will take aggressive vaccination to eliminate the virus as a public health threat. For example, smallpox. It was very widespread for generations, but regardless of herd immunity, it continued to be a serious disease worldwide, until the global vaccination campaign was launched in 1967.
Unlike this disease herd immunity was impossible with small pox absent a vaccine because of the mortality rate. There were very few mild cases of small pox
