Look, let’s just call this newfound defense tactic of the GOP what it is…. It’s willful self-delusion. And a never-ending string of false equivalences.

Constantly hear about the “fake” Russian Collusion “hoax”. To hear it from any Trumpster, you’d think there weren’t multiple indictments, multiple guilty pleas, there’s not over 500 pages of reporting in three separate volumes that detail damning findings and conclusions. No, to the GOP simpletons, it’s all “fake”… facts and empirical evidence be damned.

J6? That wasn’t an insurrection. Pay no attention to the tapes that show hundreds of these people storming the Capitol as Congress was certifying the election, that ■■■■ apparently isn’t real. Or, it’s real but it’s pretty mild, basically your average tour. Or, it’s sort of real, but instead of those people being angry Trumpsters, it’s actually just a bunch of FBI agents. Again, pay no attention to the long list of guilty pleas and convictions, the many that have expressed remorse (some of which does seem sincere), or the videos of alpha male Hawley skating through the hallways to the nearest closet with a lock on it. None of that ■■■■ is real.

The stolen election of 2020. Apparently, the evidence is overwhelming, it’s irrefutable, it’s extensive… unfortunately, it just hasn’t been produced yet in spite of dozens upon dozens of cases that have occurred since then. But it’s there, and it’s further proof that the Democrats can only win elections by cheating… or something like that. And then, of course, Hilary did the same thing in 2016. We all remember her refusing to concede, the court battles that ensued for months after, etc.

This list could go on and on and on….

It’s amazing really, and at times comical, if it wasn’t so concerning. I get that there are always those factions on both sides that are just ■■■■■■■ looney no matter the subject… but we’re no longer talking about a small faction, we’re talking about a hefty portion of the GOP.
I look forward to the return of more even headed and civilized political discourse that is actually grounded in reality, facts and evidence. I can’t see how that happens in the era of Trump.

The left is getting worried their old pervert is going to lose to a man that they have painted as evil. What kind of cheating are the left going to come up with this time. More mail in ballots and ballot harvesting is my guess. Maybe change a few laws at the last minute so no one has time to challenge them in court. If all that fails maybe indict trump after the election for something. I am sure the DOJ still has a few tricks left in their box.
