Legal pot not creating the taxes they thought. Crack down coming?

The guy who has been under audit since at least 2015

Cons like to trash everything CA… they are jelly of our success

Who wouldn’t be jelly of the 5th largest economy in the world?

This is not the first thread hoping that pot will again be made illegal. it’s going to be so disappointing for him when it’s legal across the US.

Not paying owed taxes is a bit like theft.

It’s exactly theft.

The only commonality is possession of something by someone who has no title to it.

That’s an odd use of the word “problem”. Prices going down, whether its for weed or houses, helps most people’s finances. Helps keep them out of debt.

Yeah you’re right it is an odd use of the word. For sure it helps consumers- but it does effect growers and business owners who can’t pay the rent as prices plummet. It opens it up for those who grow huge amounts (bigger corporations) at the expense of smaller businesses and growers since margins are tight.

It would be interesting if folks in CA had relationships with the grower of their food similar to their relationship with the person who grows their weed.
They might take a different approach to regulations.

Well it is a corrupt state run by Democrats that are showing how Socialism can’t
work in America.

Weed is a gateway drug to other things like Crack, Cocaine, Heroin.

In addition to the $400 million in new tax dollars California also saved $100 million in 2018 by not prosecuting low level marijuana offenses

And alcohol and cigarettes are gateways to all of them. Especially alcohol.

You would think people would have learned from alcohol prohibition that prohibition and a war on alcohol just made crime worse. Yet we did it again with drugs. We never learn.

What amount were they expecting? A couple billion? $400 million is nothing to sneeze about.

Cal has almost the worse education system in the country. They have the most poor when cost of living is factored in. BUt, the beaches are nice…

I just wonder if they are going to put people in jail for sell illegal pot and avoiding the taxes?

Both are victimless crimes…

Looks like they already started…

Is this corporate welfare?

You keep saying that tax evasion is a victim-less crime. Are you Irwin Schiff’s ghost?

Here’s why it’s not a victim-less crime: [1] we all agree to pay a certain level of tax, [2] our governing body makes appropriations, [3] I pay the full rate and dollar amount [4] you lie about your income and pay less taxes than you should [5] the government decreases services because of the lower taxes now received [6] you get the benefit of lower taxes and I have to pay the difference through lower government services that I paid in full for.

There is a victim here.

You can’t sell liquor without a license. Why did people think pot was different?

Who’s the victim?
