Bill has passed in the Senate, including The Electoral Count Act.

I have the House of Representatives on in the background on the computer. I imagine they will be bringing a rule to the floor in short order.

As an aside, it seems like they could do this proxy voting business in a more efficient manner than reading out the proxies on the floor during votes.

Show me when I claimed to know that what was in the bill was crap. Show me rendering any opinion on the bill at all.

Then you would have a point.

i fail to see anything critical about the electoral count reform act.

my solution for government shutdowns…
if a shutdown occurs all sitting member of congress and the senate terms end the next jan 1 and they are no longer eligible for re election.
in addition all government pensions are forfeit

The point has been made. Thanks.

No less than Rand Paul seems to think it is critical. Existentially important as a matter of fact.

why would i care what he thinks?

Whether you care what other I or he thinks is ultimately immaterial.

The bottom line is that the events of January 6th, coupled with Sean Hannity’s admission that Biden indeed won the election fair and square, shows that the these reforms are existential in nature, to prevent future losers from attempting to overthrow a fair and free election.

why would a reform to prevent something from happening that was already prevented from happening in the first place be critical? Seems to me the system worked just fine. All of the “existential threat” appeals to authority in the world won’t change that fact.

Ah, no.

A poster claimed the bill was filled with crap.

I asked if they read it.

You karen’ed in trying to score points. I never claimed to know what was in it. Nor did I claim to have read it.

Keep trying. You’ll do better next time.

What would have happened if Pence didn’t certify the count?

I tend to agree that it would have worked out, but I’m an optimist. Naive sometimes even.

Others feel if Pence walked away, there would have been a valid argument that the election was not complete and Trump was still POTUS. Or at the very least it would have kept the spark of the J-6 riots growing, perhaps into a full on fire across the country.

Congress and the Supreme Court would have handled it.
If there is ever a real overthrow of the electoral process in the future, passing laws to make the process more automatic won’t save us.

We are never voting our way out of this.

Exactly! Laws are becoming meaningless to our tyrants who hold power, just look at NC.

Maybe, put let’s put a pin in it for a minute, and see how they rule in Moore. If they end up buying the ISLT, they very likely would have put imprimatur on the insurrection.

I think it’s worth it just to remove the ambiguity of the V.P role.

Absolutely right. Nothing would be better!!!

There was no “coup attempt” though libs and rino’s love to talk that ■■■■■

There was a protest where some got out of hand.

Doesn’t even compare to the 2020 thoroughly violent riots( 574) that got a wink and a nod from the libs and rino’s.
