U.S. policy also restricts the importation of formula that does meet FDA requirements. At high volumes, the tax on formula imports can exceed 17 percent. And under President Donald Trump, the U.S. entered into a new North American trade agreement that actively discourages formula imports from our largest trading partner, Canada.

Get even? They were sickening and killing infants.
Abbot was running an unsanitary plant, that has led to several bacteria infections since 2019. They should have been shutdown during one of the last 8 instances of contamination.
If we are to accept this article as true, shouldn’t someone take immediate emergency action at this point? Should this not be done in order to allow those imports from Europe that the Atlantic claims meet FDA requirements? Who is at such a level in the government that they could see that emergency action is taken?

Show your work. There have been 8 incidents of contamination since 2019 from that plant. The FDA should have shut them down the last time they investigated and found unsanitary conditions.
So fund the R&D efforts of the formula manufacturers, provide funds so they can increase production, and buy up formula and distribute it to the public?
