My point was then made more obvious when i had a discussion with another poster.

I mean the “i must reflexively disagree with anything that poster says” is a weird way of posting but have at it.

Had a girlfriend that was Venezuelan, when it came to religion, family and social views it was match.

We also had a Chilean family in our congregation and same experience.

Venezuelans have a culture of dependency on government. It is a learned behavior. We are now a generation removed from Chavez and it started before then.

The government of Mexico never did anything for the citizens. So they learned to prosper without it.

I figured that’s what you were getting at, which is funny cause that’s what my dad gripes about Mexicans as a Mexican.

Mexico was governed by a single party for most of the 20th century. They gave out all sorts of goodies obviously they were crumbs. Mexico continues to be largely socialist.

Latin American governments are by and large socialist and have developed a culture of dependency.

Does not mean it cannot be broken, look at the Cubans that flee Cuba or your favorite Hispanicos the Mexicans.
