Everybody knows America won the war all by itself.
No, what we know is that without us the Japanese and Germans would have though.
The same could be said about the British and the Russians.
No it can’t.
The British and Russians would have both folded without US aid and the US involvement in the war.
Stalin was mad as hell that we didn’t invade the continent earlier to relieve the pressure on his forces.
The only force on earth capable of defeating both German and Japan one on one at the time was the US because of our manpower, natural resources, and industrial capacity.
The largest logistical operation ever performed was the US Supply lines to GB and Russia and without it both would have been starved into submission.
It was a group effort.
The British, Americans, and Soviets all played key roles that led to the German capitulation in 1945.
Without British intelligence operations we would have had a much tougher time keeping the Germans wrong footed and reading their code almost as fast as they could, which would have led to higher casualties for everyone.
Without American manpower and industry the western front would have never materialized and the Soviets would have lost even more men.
Without the Soviet Union the war would have went on for years more and British/American forces would have had to face much better provisioned German forces. And a lot more of them.
One thing that has to be remembered is that most of the German divisions opposing the Western Allies in 1944 were horribly under strength. Most of the men were being sent to reinforce the eastern front, which in 1944 was becoming an absolute catastrophe for the Heer.
The Soviets were demolishing entire German field armies almost as fast as the Germans could reconstitute them. Hitler was basically moving units on maps that had ceased to exist just a few hours before his meetings.
There were some crack units in the West. The SS divisions were the cream of the crop, especially the SS Panzer divisions. There were some decent Wehrmacht units, too. But most of the best Wehrmacht divisions were in the east doing their best not to die against Russians who outnumbered them five to one in some cases.
When we smashed them in the breakout from Normandy the Wehrmacht in the West were routed all the way back to the German border in less than two months. They fell apart.
What saved the German army in 1944 was a combination of the western allies outrunning our supply lines and Stalin playing politics with Poland. It gave them time to rebuild and form new units with less than stellar personnel.
Then Hitler decided to waste all of it on the Ardennes offensive, which initially seemed like a disaster for us but in actuality was the best thing that could have happened. The Wehrmacht was done after that fiasco.

Had the British folded to the NAZIs in 1940, the United States might not have even entered the war in Europe.
And the Russians killed about 2 million Germans.
Plus captured and wounded millions more.
The USSR and the US were both necessary to defeat Germany in a timely manner.
Without us, the USSR would have been hard pressed to keep their troops fed and boots on their feet.
Without the USSR pulling it’s huge load the United States (And the commonwealth) would have had to fight the entire Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS.
Our casualties were bad enough fighting under strength German units that were doing their best to retreat back into Germany, in most cases leaving their equipment behind for us to capture.
Imagine how bad it would have been had we had to take on the entire German Army in the West. As bad as things got for the Wehrmacht when they had breathing space they were able to put together units quickly and go back into action.
We were already unofficially at war with Hitler due to the Uboat war and as soon as the Japanese invaded PH war with both was inevitable.
We were already deeply engaged due to our support of Britain and Russia and Hitler would not allow us to continue supplying either without declaring war on us.
I don’t recall Germany helping us with Normandy either, but we’re keeping plenty of troops there…

I support President Donald Trump because he really let the Kurds have it for not showing up and helping America in World War 2!
Those ungrateful Kurds didn’t show up in Normandy on June 6th, 1944!
They never came once to help us in the Korean War!
They didn’t show up at any time to help us in the Viet Nam War!
Of course Obese Donald skipped out on that War as well as the Kurds, well maybe not skipped , him suffering so horribly then with SHSS, (Sudden Heel Spur Syndrome).
