Notably, the Ninth Circuit held it didn’t matter whether the threats were the “real motivating force” behind the private party’s conduct; state action exists even if he “would have acted as he did independently.”

So if CNN retracted it’s coverage of Trump after he criticized it and said watch what happens then this was infringement on their right to mischaracterize his position.

This is a trivial example and I don’t think this is infringement. But it does illustrate that there is more meat to infringement than any threat whatsoever the government make to coerce.

This is a good cautionary tale about relying on internet links to form one’s opinions. It’s one thing to use the web to learn how to change the oil, it’s another entirely to assume one is “informed” on global matters.

I’m in agreement with you on that. That won’t stop people on left and right from continuing to do it.

I note that you are also one of those who, like me, rarely does this though.

Iraq and Afghanistan taught me just how uninformed people really are, especially after they “research” it on the internet. At best, they do nothing but find opinions that they already agree with. It goes much farther than my wars.

This is a threat to NBC to alter what they are publishing.

There is a bar somewhere for the level and clarity of the threat. It may be that the Covid disinformation threat meets that bar, but it is not a given just because “government” is asking for them to do it.

The summary…what’s outlined in the Guardian is not how Putin operates. He does not use the security council for ops. All his active ops he micromanages and they’d be black boxed.

There’s no way they’d be discussed in a meeting with 13 people.

So the question is…who wants us to see this…and why?

Another reason this fake document might have been released…it changes the official timeline of the operation so that it started AFTER some key events most people would have thought would be part of the operation…most notably Trump’s attempts at real estate development in Moscow.

Makes the real estate deal “look” legit even if it was not.

It could also be faked just to gin up anti-Trump sentiment but there’s nothing major going on right now…so why would this help Dems or any Anti-Trumpers now?

The kompromat this story refers to is Trump doing money laundering for the Russians.

That is more believable but no serious investigation to find out if it’s true has been done.

I have little doubts that given all of the intersecting points between the Trump org and the Russian mob that there wasn’t a ton of money laundering going on.

From my typing it is an infringement you took away what? No criminal penalty is necessary for an infringement to be made.

Vladimir Putin personally authorised a secret spy agency operation to support a “mentally unstable” Donald Trump in the 2016 US presidential election during a closed session of Russia’s national security council, according to what are assessed to be leaked Kremlin documents.

The key meeting took place on 22 January 2016, the papers suggest, with the Russian president, his spy chiefs and senior ministers all present.

They agreed a Trump White House would help secure Moscow’s strategic objectives, among them “social turmoil” in the US and a weakening of the American president’s negotiating position.
