Do Democrats take COVID-19 seriously? Apparently not, because it’s ok to order infected senior citizens back into nursing homes so long as you pull your own mother out first AND you’ll rewarded by Joe Biden for doing so. One can only imagine the types of appointees Democrats will choose for Medicare for All positions and subsequent horrors inflicted on the country. And before the argument ensues, surely there’s far more qualified and competent members of the LGBTQ community for this position than this one.

I know this thread is going to go down that route, but that’s the deliberate trap set by the Democrats. Here’s an individual that’s BLATANTLY unqualified for this role, whose polices actually led to the deaths of thousands of senior citizens. In no way, shape, or form should such an individual be appointed to any position where she could potentially get even more people killed. We listened for YEARS about how “unqualified” Trump’s nominees were, now here’s Biden one-upping him on day one.

These are the same people that persistently advocate for large scale government takeover of health care. What if the Justice Democrats wrote those rules? Would anybody that ever attended a Trump rally be denied preventative care?

That is a fair, unbiased criticism based on policy.
This does not appear to be true. Nursing homes were instructed to take new patients but there’s nothing to prove patients with COVID were placed. Also her mother chose to remove herself after this guidance was implemented.
Why though do you think she’s unqualified?
If people were not to be allowed into nursing homes, then where should they have gone?
The original PA guidelines “Interim Guidance for Nursing Facilities During COVID-19” as of March 19th, 2020, stated the following:
Nursing care facilities must continue to accept new admissions and receive readmissions for current residents who have been discharged from the hospital who are stable to alleviate the increasing burden in the acute care settings. This may include stable patients who have had the COVID-19 virus.
That was her department mandate, and while the deaths weren’t intentional it still happened on her watch. PA’s death rate from coronavirus is twice that of Texas, despite the population difference. Why would you want to reward failure? Can the democrats not find anybody that’s competent?

Go back to March 19th 2020. And try to think without foreknowledge of what was going to happen and what was known about the disease and the lack of federal coordination, the failure of testing… like everything.

What did the other states do better? Why weren’t there similar death tolls in their nursing facilities compared to PA? Again, why cling to this nominee? If she was so confident that this was the correct policy, why pull her 95-year old mother out?

Well, New York had a ship for Covid Cases which Covid-Cuomo refused to use, and Samaritan’s Purse supplied a Covid care facility which antiChristians demanded be removed. I’m sure Mr. Levin had other options available. The NZ government has commandeered hotels for quarantining Covid patients. Are there hotels where Mr. Levin lives?
Is someone incapable of coming up with any options the right person to run a health portfolio?

Okay. This is switching into NY from Pennsylvania… but I get it… distinguishing between Northeastern States is hard.
In hindsight I agree with all of you. What happened with the nursing homes in the Northeast was tragic and bordering on criminal. But hindsight is 20/20.
What would have a “conservative” done in this same situation?
Maybe what my local nursing home did. We have not lost one resident to covid.
