Kavanaugh confirmation hearings set for Sept. 4

The Democrats will do what they do regardless of what the Republicans do. We learned that from Reid.

Same beast.

I supported Republicans when they threatened the nuclear option in 2004.
I supported Democrats when they actually used the nuclear option a decade later.
I supported Republicans when they expanded the nuclear option for Gorsuch.

It is asinine to retain the current rules of the Senate, written for an ancient day when both sides were more agreeable and willing to work back and forth. They cannot function in a hyper-partisan era.

A hyper-partisan political environment requires the appropriate rules. Simple majority rule with limited and structured debate or essentially what is already the case for the House of Representatives.

Simply put, the Republicans should through out the entire current rules and precedents of the Senate and change them to suit themselves.

And when the Democrats become the majority, they should do exactly the same.

Haters gotta hate.

According to what Constitutional rule?

Moderate Democrats told Harry Reid that his use of ‘nuclear options’ was going to come back to bite Democrats after he was gone. They were right.

Do you know him personally, or are you just saying that because it’s expected of you?

You are right. So quit whining.

So Dubarry is responsible for Trumpism? Who would have guessed.

Don’t be ridiculous.

That doesn’t begin to cover it.

Republicans are setting all kinds of precedents that democratic politicians will use in the future. Delaying voting on SCJs. Not releasing tax returns. Not divesting. Publicly getting in bed with foreign powers to win elections. Using foreign entities to campaign. Constantly trashing Americans on Twitter. Picking corporate winners and losers. Preaching that Fox is the enemy of the people. Paying off porn stars and mistresses and requiring NDAs. Using political rallies to sell product. Golfing more. Using golf buddies to shape VA policy. Requiring NDAs from everyone. Getting massive tax cuts for their richest donors. Throwing bread crumbs at the peasants to keep them in line. Lying 19 times per day. Having multiple baby mommas that you cheat on. Exploding the debt more.

You know. All the things that conservative posters here have always been for.

You may want to call your senator and offer up that advice to him / her. Perhaps you could start a online petition or even a go fund me.

Good luck with your proposal.

Dems have done every one of those including delaying judge consent. You’re crying over details.

We don’t need term limits. We need campaign finance reform.

Hence my proposed constitutional amendment.

section 1.
A-No candidate for any political office (federal, state, local) can accept contriubtions (cash or in kind) from a United States Citizen only. No cash or in kind contributions my be accepted from any corporation, PAC, Union or any other entity.
B-If the candidate represents a district or state, they may only accept money (on in kind) contributions from United States Citizens that are in their district or state.
C-Entities (Corporations, PAC, Union, or any other such entity) may do issue orriented advertising only. No likness or name of any candidate or office holder can be used.
D-No party affiliation shall be listed next to names on any ballot. Names shall be listed in random order (simple computer program picks the order they appear on the ballot).
E-No straight party voting allowed.

THEN and only then would you find out of the person they are supposed to be representing supports them for office.

We need term limits. Badly.

Pubs were blocking every single executive and judicial nominees in the lower courts, just to muck with the system…more so than ever done in the past. That was after 6 years of pubs blocking every appointee…even though once they went up for a vote…many appointees were approved by large majorities.

They didn’t need to. Republicans didn’t block Sotomayor or Kagan.

Who’s point?

There was ample precedent for what McConnell did with Merrick Garland. Using that precedent DEMS would have done exactly the same thing were the roles reversed. Please don’t insult my intelligence by pretending otherwise.
