I agree own beats renting, but, as others have said when owning there is ALWAYS something in addition to the mortgage. Plus, it takes time to build up a decent amount of equity.

Sounds like bad luck on that furnace. Was nothing under warranty at 7 years old? I just replaced my HVAC system, and the new system has a 10 year warranty on parts. How much did it cost to replace the board? And yes, I agree, there are additional costs on owning vs renting, but the overall ROI is much better to own.

I agree ownership crushes renting…IF you have access to funds for maintaining, and emergency repairs.

There is price gouging and they even admitted it in court a couple days ago. They were bilking the american people to boost profits. This is on just 2 staple items at one grocery chain. I bet many were doing the same all the way up the food chain.
