Julianne Assange about to be kicked out of embassy

Lots of reports that Assange is about to kicked out the Ecuadorian embassy and turned over to the British.

I’ll be curious to see what happens…he was supposed to leave I think because of manning…

It is thus highly unlikely that Moreno – who has shown himself willing to submit to threats and coercion from the UK, Spain and the U.S. – will obtain a guarantee that the U.K. not extradite Assange to the U.S., where top Trump officials have vowed to prosecute Assange and destroy WikiLeaks.

Who are the “top Trump officials”…anybody know?

AG Sessions for one…

Thanks.

Jeff, Jeff, Jeff…only the best people…

I for one (and I’ve said this for a long time) hope he is extradited to the United States, tried, and if convicted spends a lot of time in US prison for putting top secret documents into the public relm. He is NOT a media person by any stretch of the imagination.

Under Hillary (even through he put her e-mails and DNC emails into the public relm) more than likely would have invited him to the United States with a hero’s welcom.

Seriously doubt Hillary has warm feelings for Assange.

Funny how all the right wingers are suddenly forgetting how much the CEC fawned over Assange during the election.

They hope that the rest of the world members like their morals and values. Which are cast aside as easily as a piece of gum that has lost its flavor.

Assange and Kim dot com both were against Hillary Clinton because they feared American prosecution if she was elected.

How do you figure a Hillary administration would welcome him with open arms? Where was your criticism of Hannity for actually treating him like a hero?

Agreed.

Do not agree. Assange is part of the reason Hillary lost the election. You state that as much yourself. I don’t know why you see this as a partisan issue.

That won’t fly real far.

Free speech is free speech. First amendment doesn’t just apply to the media, it applies to everyone. That will get shot down at the Supremes, if not sooner.

Now if Assange were to physically obtain such intel, you might have a leg to stand on.

Trump Quotes from October/November 2016:

“WikiLeaks, I love WikiLeaks.”

“This WikiLeaks stuff is unbelievable. It tells you the inner heart, you gotta read it.”

“Another one came in today. This WikiLeaks is like a treasure trove.”

“Getting off the plane, they were just announcing new WikiLeaks, and I wanted to stay there, but I didn’t want to keep you waiting,” said Trump. “Boy, I love reading those WikiLeaks.”

Swamp creatures probably.

I agree with this.

So the New York Times and Washington Post can publish the Pentagon Papers that were given to them by someone else, but because Julian Assange doesn’t have media credentials, he can’t do what is essentially the same thing…posting information given to him by someone else?

If CNN isn’t a real news service, than there’s no way wikileaks is.

I remember back when reading wikileaks was a bad thing…

U.S. agencies warn unauthorized employees not to look at WikiLeaks

It’s not about who is ‘real’ and who is ‘fake’. It’s the first amendment. And it either applies to all, media as well as private citizens, or it applies to no one.

You can’t pick and choose.

This is a hard one- and a complicated issue- but yes of course there are limits to the 1st amendment. Copyright laws, child pornography, libel, threats, etc etc.

For example, publishing material that puts people’s lives in danger by outing them is something that Wikileaks was accused of.

Its not that the 1st amendment allows you carte blanche to say what you want. There are exceptions. And we must decide where those lines are and where they have been crossed.

Although I do not believe it is right to steal documents and release them no matter the outlet I do believe the motives matter.

Providing deflection from the fact that not so long ago several prominent figures on the right gave Assange positive spin.

Hell, Donald was so gleeful about Wikileaks he ran to Twitter frequently to talk about how much fun he was having reading it.
