You know as well as anybody that it’s all about money. Right now Neil Young is no big loss compared to what Joe Rogan brings in. But if enough artists jump on the bandwagon then things will change.

It’s not financially damaging, but trying to coerce a private company into shutting down speech he doesn’t agree with has damaged my opinion of him. (Still love his music though.)

I’ve had Spotify for 10 years. I had been planning on checking out Tidal because they pay the artists more. I find the sound quality to be better. So I went ahead and made the switch. I’m under no illusion that this is anything more than just a blip to Spotify and Joe Rogan will continue to have millions of listeners.

when i was young, people with young’s politics schtick was to make a lot of noise to be heard. the government wasn’t hearing them. except for the antiwar peace and love movement and to some degree civil rights, they were basically apolitical. now they make a lot of noise in an attempt to silence those who don’t agree with them and instead of apolitical, they make everything political.
