And in 2020 there was no question. All 50 states picked their legal electors by the December 14th deadline

Ah, objections occurred nonetheless…

and the power to make their own rules.
Illegitimate objections. All the electors selected were legal and legitimate
did that stop kennedy from slating alternate electors?

Illegitimate objections
Actually totally legitimate in fact…
Was that before or after that year’s deadline?
No they weren’t. Not a single objection was based on facts
lol… who gives a ■■■■■ it was before they were counted
While Trump formed his alternative slate of electors after the recounts, after the audits and after the deadline. Totally the same!

It sounds like Levin the Consititional scholar is conveniently forgetting about the existence of Article III
In 2020 the date that Congress set as the deadline for states to decide their electors was December 14th
Hardly, Levin often reinforces his points via explicit passages contained in the Constitution. In this case, if the deadlock continued through March 4th, 1801 there is a path laid forward of who sits in the President’s seat in the interim…
There was NO deadlock in 2020.
There was in 1800.

absolutely the same.
Not even in the same universe. When JFK did it before the recount the results were still in question. In 2020 the multiple audits and recounts concluded that the results didn’t change.
Also Kennedy did it before the deadline, Trump’s was after the deadline therefore not legal

Yeah- they are codifying that the VP is an envelope opener.
and the election was still being contested. absolutely the same, absolutely prudent. slating alternate electors is what should be done in contested elections. the fact that you don’t agree with the contest is irrelevant

Not legally. The states had until December 9th to determine their results and the 14th to determine electors
Doing so after December 14th is illegal
■■■■■■■■■ completely legally.
it is up to the congress and their own rules they make to decide which electors to accept to count. that is the system we have.

it is completely up to the congress
They make the rules for an election in advance, not make it up as they go.
For the 2020 election the legal deadline for states deciding electors was December 14th
