They did propose addressing this via legislation. Feinstein wrote it. Every member of the Democratic Caucus plus the two Independents in the Senate sponsored it. McConnell says he won’t bring it to the floor for a vote. No Republican has supported or endorsed it. This talking point is no longer available champ.
Trump won’t be happy until he has extracted some concessions form democrats before letting the child hostages free.
We’ll see how the standoff unfolds over the next week or two. My guess is that the House will get something (anything!!) through, but who knows- they are in gridlock because conservative GOPers want to be more hardline and won’t pass a more moderate bill.
He absolutely has the authority to protect these kids from this treatment but is CHOOSING not to use that authority. I don’t know how you can argue that he cares about these kids…
Sure- take the kids as hostages off the table, then work towards a comprehensive immigration package. But lets not wait while children are literally being abused.
Just some dem hack, but the abuse is dragging these kids over the desert, so you can have a better chance to stay in America… Trump is feeding them, and giving them healthcare. Free health care just like you dream of… If that’s abuse, then the entire dem platform is abuse…LMAO!
Why do you think dems are running around talking about fixing it with a flick of his pen…? Well, they can fix it with a flick of their pen on a new bill… But they don’t want it fixed…
Comparing this to a real concentration camps is stupid… The law encourages abuse of children as it stands. They give their kids over to human tarfficers and dems could care less. Obama encouraged it. We all saw it. Abuse is not feeding and medical attention. Only dems could be talked into believing that…
Are you being serious? They proposed a bill. Period. Your talking point is gone troll. They cannot force McConnell to bring it up for a vote. You asked them to put forward a law. They did. The ball is in the GOP now. You know it. I know it. Everyone here knows it. If you want to insist on continuing to demand the Dems do something, it will only serve to reinforce your own ignorance.
