I’ll turn on “modern country” on Apple Music once in a while just to see if it’s gotten any better.

And I’m always left unsurprised. It’s trash. All they talk about is mud riding, broken Chevrolet trucks with lift kits, maybe a wife left, etc.

I miss classic country music. Country and Western specifically. When it was deep and had emotion and the lyrics were actually smartly written. Like old Johnny Cash tracks. They used to tell stories in country music. All that’s out the window now.

And I’m an equal opportunity hater. Modern Rap and hip hop is trash now too.

Only decent genres in my opinion in the modern era is Metal and Hard Rock. And modern Blues and Americana. Those are still doing pretty well.

Love Johnny Cash. Give my Love to Rose is a great example of great storytelling.

Last time country was good was during the late 70s. When guys like Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings were at their height.

Country music died June 5th, 1993.

But it’s hard to make that assumption when you couple the lyrics with the video.

I don’t think he would have known that for a very simple reason.

The song lyrics coupled with that location can be taken in a racist way…… who in their right mind would intentionally do that to their career?
